Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The reason I joined this site was to see how other Liverpool suporters were feeling about our season. One reply to my champions league topic stated that it didn't sound like I was really backing my club. Well, the problem I have is watching this present Liverpool team displaying none of the qualities asscoiated with a football institution. Even if we were playing badly, which we are, its even worse when half the players don't seem to care. Owen looks like a man dreaming of Madrid or the Kings Road, Traore has trouble deciding which foot to use and Heskey can't decide if he should trouble opposing defences or offer to make them a cup of tea. It's not living in the past to think that we can once again produce a great team but it's going to take a long time before we challange like we used to. Liverpool football club has provided me with some of my greatest memories - 1977 Rome, 86 Wembley, the brilliance of the 88 side - all I want is to see us at the top again and not 20 points behind that Old Trafford mob.

86 at Wembly was special, and the 88 team were explosive (Imagine if we had Beardsley, Barnes, Aldridge and Houghtan as our attacking players now!)

I certainly have great memories of the 87/88 team,it was the first season I bought a season ticket. The football was breathtaking. Unfortunately it seems a million years ago when you watch the present team.
I always remember a comment from Ron Yeats when asked about the secret of Liverpools success,he mentioned a few reasons, but mainly he said"youve got to have good players and this club has had some exceptional players".
That certainly cannot be said of this squad, and thats the simple reason why we are 20 points off the pace.
