yes i think he is classy , but do we need him now...? is the key word... we have gerrard and alonso, have hamman as midfield ... i dun think havin aimar is a gd idea.. meaning alonso will be bench and gerrard playing the defensive role.. which .. i dun think he is gd at... if aimar plays the second striker role, how abt garcia... and those strikers we have now.. i dun think refa will want to buy another midfielder.. unless he has that extra money to spend on... after having a striker and a CB...

I think aimar is being bought as a support striker. Rafa's preferred formation is the artist formerrly known as AB's preferred formation..... 4-5-1. :p (sorry had to do that).

I guess rafa is looking for a right winger as we speak. Intresting times at anfield. Can't wait for january....

Aimer eh? definately an absolutely top-class player whether he comes or not. Must say I don't really go with this "don't need him" argument. If you look at the games where Diao, Igor and Mellor have played and imagine sticking Aimer in as part of a midfield 4 or 5 then the whole balance and quality of the team is radically altered and I dare say, improved.
South Americans not liking the cold and physical approach? not for me again. Class will out and the guy has it in buckets. Don't reckon it'll come off myself but if it does, we need him alright.

Respect for JBG's valiant attempts to filter out spammy smilies and one word retorts forbids me from posting up a smilie myself, but suffice to say its a fair cop Rockie mate, consider me "done like a kipper" as they somewhat puzzlingly say in these parts.

i don't see why if aimar comes anyone else has to be pushed out. it happens everywhere, look at chelsea, for instance. in the games where people like gerrard and alonso are injured or rested who is better to have coming in - a player like igor (bless him) or a player like aimar? rotation is a common thing these days and it looks like it is a part of benitez' style already.

what it comes down to is the man management skills of the gaffer.
