Away fans

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby LFCFan4Life » Mon Dec 27, 2004 6:35 pm

Many have said that our away fans sing more than fans at Anfield. i.e. through out the whole game against West Brom it was mostly our fans singing and when we were at Anfield playing against Portsmouth it was quiet through out the whole game. Now I don't have the right to say anything because I haven't been to Anfield but this is what I've heard recently.

yeah its true in the newcastle-liverpool match  the newcastle fans were singing more than our fans were even when we were winning 3-1.

when you go away it tends to be the more fanatical supporters with you, and once a song starts everyone is up for it.
at home these fella`s tend to be spread around the ground.
they probably try to start songs but when everyone around just stares at them they feel last and just sit back down.
its not just liverpool though, its the same for every club.

I see Murphy's up to his old "LFC for Scousers only" bandwagon. ???

Its true that the home support is nowhere near as vocal as the Away support but it's true of ALL  the big clubs in the prem. Arsenal, United, Chelsea etc...... are all relatively quiet at home. ........

Hard to pinpoint why it is but complacency, seats and familarity all play their part ......

For the record the best HOME support I've heard on my travels have been WBA , Derby And Pompey but as the table shows it doesn't win you games.

That said I'm in no doubts that in the CL game against Olympinakos the crowd made the difference and although its conjecture I believe they won that game for Liverpool......

Whats happened to teh Flag Days at Anfield ? They were a good idea and a decent attempt to inject some colour and passion into the home support..

here in barcelona the fans generally sit very quietly. if the team plays well they might applaud, if they play badly they sit and say or do nothing and probably just leave early. the only exception is the barca v real games.

they would dream about having the chants and songs we have, home OR away. and to have an anthem like YNWA ringing out is something so many clubs will never ever experience.

Hadn't realsied that mate, thanks fior the insight. Maybe its not the morgue at Anfield many believe it to be ..........

Sometimes the only battle the Away fans can win at Anfield is the singing cos they so often get outclassed on the pitch  :D

I've done it myself, watched LFC get battered away from home and thought I'll console myself by singing louder and for longer than the home fans but it's a hollow victory and only serves to help the long journey home  ???
