Whats arrogant or impatient about picking out comments like that?

For gods sake thats like saying £1,000,000 is better than £5,000,000. Morientes is a FAR better player and anyone who can't see that doesn't know there football.

ah wrong, he was saying y would we want morienties when we can have bent

he needs to wise up, stu is absolutely right and its not often i agree totally with stu, that tells you something

bent instead of morienties aye y not, hes on the bench cause the players ahead of him are world class, ronaldo? raul? class players and owen isn't that bad either, most strikers in the world would have trouble shifting those players

I cant see whats wrong with Mellor ,He dont look Flash and needs polishing up a bit but he scores Goals and thats what its all about being a striker , Morientes first anelka second ,But please dont let mellor go he's a natural goalscorer and just needs polishing at the edge's As for Bent well i hear the rumours but i cant say ive actually sat down and watched him for a full match so i will have to hold Judgement.

Yes no doubt Morientes is a quality striker and i still want him my point was that we need 2 strikers and to get him and Bent in would be so good for Liverpool if we signed them both now for a total of around 12 or 13 million and think that would represent a superb bit of business and would be a sound investment for liverpool footabll club.....Oh and Stu pointing out everything Morientes has won compared to 19 year old stiker at Ipswich is by far the dumbest comparison i have ever seen anyone do.....Does that make Pascal Cygan better than Alan Shearer cos hes won more trophies??? or Diago Forlan as good as him cos hes won the same amount of trophies? Thats a lame comparison and u know it Stu, Im not saying Bent is better, its just easier if u compare each players abilitys than the medals they have and its fairer.....and i know Morientes comes out on top ability wise but as a 19 year old Bent has it all goin for him and theres nothin to stop him becoming as good as Morientes in the future......Sign both of them i say.

If Bent becomes half as good as Morientes i'll eat my keyboard and monitor.

The lads not even the best Striker in the first division... infact, i can name two better than him without thinking about it, Nathan Ellington and Dean Ashton.

Think about how good Fowler was at 18 and Owen at 17 and Rooney at 17 and Gerrard at 19... Thats class for you.

Bent may become a good premiership player one day. He may even get a few caps for england, but in terms of ability i doubt he'll reach the level Andy Cole got to in his prime. A very good player, but not top class.

If we were to go for a first division prospect with potential, Ashtons the man. He's different to what we have, scores goals and can bring others into play. I've seen him live twice and been impressed both times, he's definately good enough for the premiership, with time and in the right environment he could become an excellent player.

there's a host of clubs watching ashton such as man city, everton, charlton, villa at the moment and i'm sure that he will be in the premiership come january. crewe can't afford to turn down the 3-4m they could possibly get for him.

it has always baffled me the reluctance of premiership teams to take a gamble on young english strikers from the lower leagues. it seems that they always want someone who is "proven" no matter what the cost. at the end of the day, remember that we got ian rush from chester city.

The games different now though.

You can always see when a players good enough in the lower leagues.

Robbie Keane was, Kevin Phillips Earnshaw has the potential as does Ashton.

They aren't gambles. Its down to being a good judge of player. If they're good enough, they'll make it, if they ain't, they won't.

Ashton's good enough. Bent at the minute, isn't quite there. Good division 1 player though.

Its is more to do with the fact that big clubs have bigger better academy facilities, therefore the good players end up at the big clubs earlier.
