I done this on saturday but it got buried in general chat, so ive put it back here JBG delete other one please :D
Whats everyone elses thought on Rafa.

Just looked at the table and we are 6th I know we would all prefrably in the top 3, and to be honest 6th isnt as bad as it seems, it only seems worse cause the bluenoses are above us, but they play once a week and havent had an injury a settled side no changes, once the changes come in and injuries occur they will start losing points.

Dont forget we are still in the 4 cups, and when I think back to last year when our first team had to play Yeovil town we was not confident of a win remember.
But Rafa has played the youth in the carling cup something Houllier or former managers would never do.

I dont know how Liverpool approached him to ask him to come to anfield to be our manager I believe he had been to anfield twice and experienced a fantastic atmosphere even though his team left us standing Valencia.

My point is the mans no idiot he came to us knowing that Roman Ambramovich had took over chelsea with a bank account as big as the Aristotle Onassis and could buy any player he wanted he would know that Jose Mourinho was going to be there new manager, he would know that Arsene wengers Arsenal are a team full of fantastic players and full of talent, even though I hate to say it United have some talent  Ronaldo, Rooney, Ferdinand, so he knew that the job being offered to him was not going to be a stroll in the park.
Then he must have thought what players he had in the Liverpool team in the job he was about to take over Michael Owen, steven Gerrard, Sami Hyppia, Didi Hamman I suppose would have been really the only players that he knew would be usefull to him I didnt include the other players as they dont really get much press.

So what made him join us he had won La Liga twice with his Valencia side beat the best oppostion on spanish soil Real Madrid and Barcalona, he had a very organised team very good professional players in a complete unit.

I know he had a lot of problems with the board there they where never satisfied and would not give him money to spend on players and missed a few payments of his own salary.
I suppose what im trying to say the job he took on was more greater than any one could imagine from being successfull on the continent and then uprooting your family, a big culture shock, the language trying to teach an old dog new tricks from the Houllier era it is all round upheavell for him.

Realistickly we are looking at at least 2 years for us to be challenging for top honours the only player I see still being with us then is Carra, the rest will be gone so he can mould the team he wants, by then the likes of Henry, Vierra, will have a few more mileage added on hopefully .
Roman will hopefully get bored and go into formula one or get arested by the authorities for money Laundering and drug dealing  .

Then we have the scum fergie will be a pensioner david Moyes will take over but no experience in europe will be the end of manure, and they will play like everton and everyone will be bored and wont bother watching them and they will get no press like everton

So we have the five year plan we have a very good chance of getting further in the Champions League if our away form has improved by then hopefully, a few new players in defence and forwards sorted out we have 2 months for that and we have very good players who have potential but need to start showing it more, its not only new for the boss its new for everyone involved even the fans.

I am very glad that Rafa came to us, I think hes the right man to bring back the glory days after january we will see more changes and in september even more, when you support a team all your life you only want whats best and if we can win one or 2 cups this season, I for one will be very happy, but for top honours we will have to face the ups and downs that lie ahead of us hopefully most of the downs have passed, and now its time that things turned around for us.

Someones been looking down on us for years with bad luck its about time that person looked down on someone else.

am i the only one who doesnt think we need to spend millions?
we have cover in most positions. we nee a striker but even then mellor is scoring a fair few now. i think teams that spend millions and millions (chelski) are ruining the game.
lets see the youngsters get there chance. we ned a CB? we got whitbread. we nede a left winger.. we got warnock, we got potter, we got some players we can use. lets not be hasty.

This I totally agreed. But think of the posibilities... True we may not need a lot of money but some to strengthen the team are very much appreciated.

Great post Cisse.. Agree on all points, although I can't see Arsenal falling from grace to easily.  They have new sponsers Emertates who will pump lots of money in, and laets face it, Arsene Wenger is no mug.

I have always said Benitez is deffo the man to take us forward.  The man know how football should be played and once a few more players join the raffaloution, we will be challenging for top honours

ok so most of you know what i am going to put.....but yes i do think Benitez see's the liverpool job as a pit stop before he takes the real madrid job, yes so far he is not doing bad.

he has donw well with the players he has got and with the injuries that have happend, but he has sliped up a few times.
i dont agree with playing like for like as we did against the blue shi*'s .
i will let him off picking some of our poor players like Diao as he did not know what they where going to play like under him .

but i put this to you , if we take Morientes Real will have the first refusal on stevie when or if we sell him.
Benitez  has never held back on how he feels about the real madrid job, so in a few years or year he could still be stevie manager as well as being owens manager and beckhams at madrid.

But for now he is not doing a bad job

I agree with you there some of the youth squad arsenal have got are going to be as good as wengers first team, but once he stops winning the prem he will be off.
I can see Sol Cambell going to Madrid and Henry and Viera to go aswell dont think they will spend the rest of there days at arsenal. Plus we can beat Arsenal like we have proved.
Chelsea on the other hand theres so much class they have perfect replacements for injuries so they are a major worry for us in the future.
Unless Roman gets extradited :D
The scum, hope glazier takes over and ruins them, Moyes is definatly fergies replacement even though MON thinks he is the right man for the job and will remain at celtic until Fergie retires.
Lakes you say Benitez wants the Real job only thing he hasnt won is the Champions League, hes won la liga twice and he would not be guartenteed winning the CL with Real.
Where as the prem is a new challenge for him, it will take a few years though and we all need to be patient as we are a patient club, look at some other teams always sacking managers cause they loose 4-5 games and all there fans do is moan, and the clubs im talking about have won either nothing or one trophey, the likes of WBA they will never win the prem or a cup they sacked Gary Megson really speaking the only thing they will achieve is staying up in the prem.

Under Benitez we can expect to be challenging for top honours once he has moulded the team that suits him and the fans, a team that oponents fear same as the old Liverpool (she says optimisticly).
I even think we will win the CL I really do, if the players start believeing in themselves and they want us to be a force in europe again anything is possible.
:;):
Once again he didnt need to take the job on as its a very hard one, the team he got left with no self belief he got rid of some dead wood, has brought the youth into action and given them a chance, a big moral booster for them, the likes of Biscan and Traore have become better players even if they are not here for the long run at least they have been played in there right potitions to be seen and other clubs may want to buy them now.
It will be a great achievement if we can win 2 tropheys this year and I for one will be very grateful and very proud of our players and manager.

Really.. Surely if he had stayed in Spain he would have a better chance of going to Real. Especially the way they go through managers.. how many in the last 3 seasons???  As Cisse says above the Premiership is more of a challenge as he has never done anything here.

Negative  Negative  Negative  Negative  Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative Negative.......  Sorry just wanted you to get my point
