Dudek to replace kirkland - When pompey visit anfield

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby chiggz_likes_owen » Mon Dec 13, 2004 5:04 pm

Jerzy Dudek will be back between the sticks for Liverpool when Portsmouth visit Anfield tomorrow after Chris Kirkland was ruled out with a back injury.

The extent of Kirkland's latest injury blow is not yet known but he hasn't been able to train and is also considered a doubt for Sunday's game against Newcastle.

Dudek's last first team appearance was in the Carling Cup quarter-final victory over Tottenham a fortnight ago.

Reserve keeper Paul Harrison has not been included in the second string squad for tonight's trip to Nottingham Forest and is expected to be named on the bench.

Bet its bullsh*t about the back injury. Anyway, I'm quite happy Dudek will be goalkeeping to-morrow.

How is a young goalie supposed to gain confidence if he is dropped after a couple of mistakes. Kirkland is the goalie of the future (for LFC anyway) while Dudek is the past.

Kirkland should be number one until management think he is not good enough to be.

I do believe Coventry tried that policy. Where are they now?

Look im the first to acknowledge that he has been at fault for 2 if not 3 of the last goals ... but dropping him is a short term answer,

Kicking Chris while he is down isnt productive ... he knows he hasnt been great the last few games im sure, but lets not have scapegoat eh.

Not making him a scapegoat. But something is wrong with kirkland. Most of the goals he conceded would have been saved by most of the other premiership goalkeepers.

Lets look at this way. Rafa finds the root of the problem, solves it and kirkland IS THE BEST ENGLAND GOALKEEPER. Happy ?  :D

I wish people will get off Kirkland's back. So he hasn't looked that commanding so far. I don't blame him for the goal against Everton. But the free kick against Villa was poor. He was standing off his line and behind the wall. Surely the wall is there to protect one half of the goal and the keeper the other half. I suspect the postioning is down to the new goalkepping coach, but it needs to change. Personally I would have the wall covering one half and maye have Riise on the line to back them up and have Kirkland covering the over half.
