Thats the interesting thing. Im not even sure how Stevie fits into Chelsea's midfield. He cant displace Lampard and Claude Makelele is an automatic in Mourinho's midfield and rightly so. At Real they used to say he was their most important player and look whats happened since he left. IMO Stevie has to play centre midfield and with Robben and Duffer on the wing he's not to push them out either.

Totally agree about Chelsea's defence as well. Ferriero, Carvalho, Terry, Gallas and Cech - pure quality, as evidenced by the ridiculously low number of goals conceeded this season so far. Their problems lie up front, like our own, except Drogba's now made his return. Good team, good manager they will be hard to beat but lets face it Arsenal and United have quality too.

We are still a bit away from their level, were still in transition, we
will have to be patient for a bit longer but I dont think anyone will deny that we are moving in the right direction.

Interesting times ahead.[/quote]
Quality post and not a hint of bias anywhere to be seen.

Chelsea and Arsenal ARE ahead of us in terms of personel at the club and settles sides.

I also agree with the Makerele comment and Real Madrid's demise since his departure. In a team of stars there is no alternative to grafting and Makelele was the unsung hero at Real in the same Way Hamnnn's contribution goes often unnoticed at Liverpool.

The only thing that i would take issue with is that IMO Gerrard is a better player than Lampard although i accept he is the blue eyed boy at Chelsea at the moment.........

Totally agree Dalglish, I'd rate Stevie above Lampard as well, but Lampard along with John Terry has been Chelsea's best player over the past 2 seasons, and I cant see any new player shifting him from the starting eleven.

I can :D  His names Steven Gerard ??? I don't know if you attend games or not but when you watch SG mate he is simply on a different level and has been for the last 12 months. Sadly for us that attracts attention from other clubs who have the ability to be  more successful quicker than Liverpool can be at the moment ???

I hope like all reds he stays and brings success back to LFC but for me Stevie is in a difficult position. He might argue he has given a significant amount of his career to LFC and is entitled to look elsewhere.....Beinga  Fan I find that incomprhensible but not unforgiveable ....

it depends if he see's it as a job, like some players do, or if he has a love of the club. if he see's it as a job then if you get a better job offer you take it.

i think he has a love for the club so it will be hard for him to leave

Why is it that any fans of other clubs who post on this forum are automatically shouted off ?

I dont understand why sensible ones cannot add to the quality of this place, and god knows it could do with some quality right now.
