Looks like money can buy success

Yes and no. Chelsea are playing as a team not as individuals. Real Madrid have all the money in the world and even though they can buy any player they want they are "Real Sh!t".

If traore had scored that last minute chance, we would be celebrating traore mania this week  :D . Mellor had a better game than against arsenal. So when rafa took him off, we can only deduce that he is saving him for champions league.

f..king clueless Troare didn't know what to do with the match-winning opportunity, I almost burst into tears. He should be left on our own half and venture no further.

Not true A.B. I saw what they did to the barcodes yesterday...systematically wore them down. Carvalho, Terry & Ferreira was rock solid. Cech awesome. Mekelele, Lampard, Drogba, Duff, Kezman, Robben...need I go on? It was a team display, Maurinho will see to it.

If Rafa have the money available to Houllier, we will be challenging for the top. But the financial gulf (between us and the top 3) is large, and will be holding us back. That's the sad reality. Years of mismanagement by Souness and Houllier cost us big f--king time and it is compounding unless we get new capital injections soon. Grrrhhhh

the board dont care what the fans think right now as we are going to be so short of cash if we dont win in midweek they are all trying to keep there sets at the club

Blah blah blah.

ok so are you telling me that we took off our best player for no reason? ???

Beg to differ mate  ???

I was there and we dominated the first half but lost our way in the second and it was always going to be a draw.

Taking Stevie off, whilst not ideal was a tactical move to save him for Wednesday when the reality is that game is more significant THIS season.

that is what i am trying to say , the midweek game has much more to loss not just 2 points

Dalglish wrote:Been today and was more than impressed with our FIRST half performnance when the Reds played probabbly their betst football against a poor but unbeaten at home this season Villa side. We were sharp, precise and created chances and ran the Villa midfield and defence ragged. Scored an early goal and looked in total control until the Ref "sees" a foul when it's patently obvious MCCann took a dive ???

Second half was a different Liverpool that emerged and the substitutions affected the shape of the team and we lacked any real dominance second half. Last week Benitez took the plaudits and rightly so for a masterclass in tactics to outsmart Arsenal. This week i think he got it wrong in terms of tactics especialy for the 2nd half. He first brough Nunez off who improved as the first half went on, then replaced Mellor with Traore and put him in left midfield and left Rise at left back ???? From then on we lacked any invention and creativity.

Kewell had his best game for LFC this season and after the mauling he has took recently this will do his confidence the world of good ....

All in all disappointed to only get a point when we deserved more for the first half performance alone

:) at last a reasoned and considered view from someone who was there...

I echo the same views as many of u. I think this is the first tactical howler Benitez made. Traore should slot in at left back while Riise pushes up to left midfield.

Traore
1. cannot pass
2. cannot shoot

Why the heck is he in left midfield? Cuz Rafa wants a taller presence and threaten Villa's goal with headers? Traore's headers are skyward bound anyway......

We may not have the Trophy Room that you guys have but you should at least show a little respect to one of the four English clubs to have won the European Cup (1982 Villa 1 Bayern 0).

Anyway we will be beating our own Bluenoses at Villa Park next week and look forward to referring you to the League table again, next week.

Hello Dom.

I'm not Dom, I'm wondering if he's one of the lads on the Heroes and Villains forum who works up your way. I probably won't be posting here again but I couldn't resist that  one!
Good luck against your Bluenoses, a Liverpool victory will help us catch them up!

Moores or not, we have to get new capital injection, and FAST.

Chelsea will win the league with or without gerrard. I think they have the best defence in europe now. And if that fails, they have the best goalkeeper in europe too. Looks like money can buy success.

Thats the interesting thing. Im not even sure how Stevie fits into Chelsea's midfield. He cant displace Lampard and Claude Makelele is an automatic in Mourinho's midfield and rightly so. At Real they used to say he was their most important player and look whats happened since he left. IMO Stevie has to play centre midfield and with Robben and Duffer on the wing he's not to push them out either.

Totally agree about Chelsea's defence as well. Ferriero, Carvalho, Terry, Gallas and Cech - pure quality, as evidenced by the ridiculously low number of goals conceeded this season so far. Their problems lie up front, like our own, except Drogba's now made his return. Good team, good manager they will be hard to beat but lets face it Arsenal and United have quality too.

We are still a bit away from their level, were still in transition, we
will have to be patient for a bit longer but I dont think anyone will deny that we are moving in the right direction.

Interesting times ahead.
