Villa match

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby JBG » Sun Dec 05, 2004 12:29 am

I didn't see the game today Daglish and had to resort to listening it on a streamed radio channel on line so you are in a far better qualified position than I am to remark on the goings on, seeing that you actually attended the game.

From what I heard on the radio and what I saw of the highlights on telly, yes, it looked like we dominated the match, particularly the first half and we deserved to take the win.

However, my own personal feeling is that while it is disapointing that we didn't win, its not really a bad result, and next weeks game (which should be a cracker!) will have a far greater impact on our season, as progression to the CL knock out stages would do nothing but good for the club and the team.

very true JBG, but we really should have been 2 or 3 up by half time and we went in 1-1 beacuse of a fanatstic Solano FK, whcih never should have been cos McCann dived.

But as Rafa said that shouldn't be an excise beacuse we had enough chances to  win the game and our midfield bossed the game.

Listen mate he wont stay if we cant beat the likes of villa we should have won fair and square and he carried us today.
The minute he went off the team lost the plot
How can we survive without him?
Tell me no one in any team in the prem has more heart than him in there club.
I dont give 2 sh.its if we are offered 100mill for him he has to stay.
WE LOVE YOU STEVEN GERRARD  YOUR THE BEST

Believe me, based on today's performance respectively, if Chelsea signed Stevie, he and Lampard will carry them so far away we will need binoculars just to see them. £50M or not, we better make sure we do all necessary to keep him here. Moores or not, we have to get new capital injection, and FAST.

Like I mentioned earlier, if a fit Baros was on the field, he will be having a feast, I have no doubt about it. We miss the killer touch today, and thought Mellor should have scored but for a good save by Sorensen.

You can also add Robben and Duff to that list. Binoculars? More like a friking telescope.

Don't agree...you don't see diving or play acting in rugby do ya? That's because the ref are aided by instant TV replay and spectator gets to see multi-angle replay on the big screen. That will cut out bad referee decisions and kick those actors out of the game. (i.e that will mean 15 less goals a season for the sc-ums). I say bring in the technology...

It is part of football. This is not something new. There will always be divers such as the one today and such as that ****** Vieira. It's the way it is and it should not be the reason why our players can't put the circle thing full of air we call a ball in the back of the net.

It was Drogba who change the tune of the game. He was awesome when he came on...just goes to show the reserve available to Maurinho with all the oil money...envy!

Robben has scored in what almost every game since he has returned. Quite remarkable. Great talent too bad we didn't sign him.

When i stated supporting Liverpool in the mid-70s, football was a game played by men, tough, honest and passionate men. With the influx of TV and commercial money, and more recently, foreign "professionals", (while all being good for the game) the game have degenerated into "win-at-all-cost" mentality and hence the need to make sure the referees are able to make the correct decision, and the need to keep the game as "honest" as possible. Referees are human after all, capable of being bias, inconsistent and making dumb decisions. This is where technology could help. That's my take.

And I seriously doubt technology will be used in football anytime soon.

Besides the impact on the flow of game, technology isnt going to be some great cure. You can still have dubious decisions made ala cricket despite camera angles. You also get the other unfortunate premise where you will have crowds of players namely MANCs surrounding the referee at every opportunity pushing for a replay.

That's the centre issue being debated ... there need to be a set parameter/criteria being set before the game can be stopped for TV replay. Those muppets at F.I.F.A are paid to use their brains and come out with an acceptable solutions.

Chelsea will win the league with or without gerrard. I think they have the best defence in europe now. And if that fails, they have the best goalkeeper in europe too. Looks like money can buy success.
