Leon,
I understand what you are saying, re: Morgan. the facts are that the media today more than ever are the mouthpiece for ordinary fans like you and I, love them or hate them they are a fundamental part of football in the world today, especially in the UK.
Morgan is a self made man, you know, working class kid done good. He has no doubt used the media to further his own business interests and will indeed use the media to attract the interest of the fans for his latest proposal, that is obvious indeed like the proposed Thai investment were doing, and the 'proposed' Mike Jeffries investment is currently doing, I for one am all for that, that is the only way for some fans to know what is happening behind the scenes for the ordinairy fan at their club.
He may not want to lay out all his cards on the table publicly possibly because these things always have a habit of biting you around the @rse area, as well as coming back to haunt you at a later date.
But make no mistake, I am sure that Steve Morgan has put together a long term plan, to convince the board of LFC and the people employed by our club to vet these type of proposals. Any business with a proposal for such a vast investment into their business, which encompasses a takeover bid would surely request that as a matter of course.
For my money, i am not sure at this stage what to think surrounding this whole issue of investment into LFC and takeover bids, However there are some interesting questions being posed
- Money into LFC needed? Most certainly.
- Will the traditions of the club could be compromised: ie. Moores family involvement in LFC for over 50 yrs for example? possibly.
However as in all areas of modern football, perhaps it is time to move with the times, before we are left so far behind, that the gulf in finance to 'catch' the bifg three - Chelsea, Manutd and Arsenal, not forgetting the fringe 'financial powerhouses' of the premier league, teams like Newcastle e.t.c. is not too big.
Do I want Steve Morgan to invest and take over LFC? If it is a case LFC and the Moores family are looking for investment (which it is looking very likely iminently), then I do think Steve Morgan is the best bet, for three reasons
1 - He has put his money where his mouth is, on numerous occasions, and presented the board with solid proposals
2 - He is a Liverpool fan
3 - At the moment he is the lesser of all 'evils' IMO
Rest assured though folks, I feel there are certainly interesting times ahead.
