Don't CL winners get auto-qualification for the year after?

Yes but do you really think we can win CL with the likes of Barca,Juve,etc...?

Even so, it would be all our eggs in one basket so to speak

That would be a hell of a basket to put your eggs in :D

watched barca last night against Real now that team is something to be jealous of :( .
After watching us in the afternoon we where like WBA compared to them.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Maybe being like WBA won't be a bad thing when we play against Arsenal.

Good point A.B.

I agree with Cisses, Barca looked really strong and made Real look average.  I hope Barca win the league and Real fail miserably, then maybe it will be less attractive to SG joining his pal.

i don't agree that aresnal is  the big game this week monaco is win and were through :)  lose and we must win at home against olymiapakos.Everyone is reading far to much in the aresnal game just cus there a bigger club than monaco, its a perfect time for both clubs to play each other hopefully are players won't disapper in the second half if we are winning ,let hope kewell can keep up his scoring record against aresnal it has 0-0 written all over it but i think we can edge it 1-0 :)

I read what Wenger thought about Arsenal's performance recently and against WBA. He feels that they have got the hunger to go on a winning run. That ain't all that good for us.

We need to beat Monaco as it will be a confidence booster. We can't afford to lose another game next week at home.

We need to start winning our home games again.  More importantly we need to beat Monaco because that win in the CL will spell success in the EPL cus we will have money to buy some firepower.

With Baros and Cisse injured and Kewell screwing up in games, we gonna lose i'm afraid.

Blimey I should get myself a surfboard and ride the waves of emotion and violent swings in optimism on this board. We beat palace 3-2 and we're gonna win the Super Cup, lose 2-0 away to middlesboro and a team cobbled together from the locals at the Dog and Duck would like as not nick a point off us. Jeez guys, I'd be an adrenalyn junkie in no time.
Time for a bit of sober reflection. We ain't gonna whoop anyone 5-0 with our dearth of forwards. Garcia and Kewell are not and are never going to be prolific. Mellor and Pongolle aren't going to set the world alight either, FWIW I agree with rafa and don't think either are good enough. So there you go then, doomed, the end is nigh. go back to your constituancies and prepare for the nationwide. Stockport away in January 2005? definately if things continue in the way that blah blah blah. Get a grip lads (and lasses sorry lynds). Sorry to repeat myself but this is what you do.
1. Defend properly. Hunt the ball in packs and make yourselves hard to beat. At Monaco you don't give daft free-kicks away and defend solid from set-pieces. Whether in zones, chromazones, traffic cones, home alones, man to man, man on man, man on woman or whatever, somebody attack the ball with conviction. Please.
2. When you get the ball, keep it. Protect it like you love it. Sami, I'll let you into a secret mate you aint a playmaker. Same goes for Riise and traore. Find a shirt the same colour. Want the ball, make yourselves available. Bravery is a big word, it's not all do or die. Sometimes bravery is to take the ball in a tight spot, hold it, shield it, protect and love it.
3. If we do ship a goal then we rally. We delve into our inner selves and walk into the valley of the giants and look em square in the eye. We puff out our chests and we never ever lie down. Not for anybody. We keep it tight and believe. Our chance will come.
4. When our chance comes, we take it. Oh and it'd be quite handy if some numpty doesn't disallow it as well.

There you go, quite simple really! Needs the fans who are lucky enough to be there to pull together as well. Might not be pretty but now is not the time for beauty contests, its all about getting the job done.

I think we can nick a 1-0. If we do, watch out for the over-reaction on Wednesday.
