Probably because it will earn him 50m not to sign an extension, it’s crazy money nowadays.

I agree that the real issue is us potentially losing our three world class players for free when selling them would have potentially netted 300m and you can buy a lot of player for that. It’s a tough call on the club because they probably always thought they would sign, the club needs to be tougher though and willing to sell if the player doesn’t play ball on negotiations. I think there needs to be a change in philosophy and that is if they reach 24 months left they sign or get sold. We will lose good players that way but at least we will get the money needed to replace them. It must be an accounting thing because we let a lot of players run down their contracts.

Nice goal today. His first from his left boot, apparently.

Pitch side interviewer asked him about how contract, usual vague reply.

But judging from his body language, I’m still certain he’s gone. And has been mentally for months.

Whatever happens, the club moves on.

Might be overthinking it but that leaving his jersey on the corner flag celebration he did was him hanging up his Liverpool jersey, i.e. leaving.

Regardless if he meant that or not he's gone for sure. Wouldn't boo him or anything and I hope no one does but he better not come back one day thinking he's a legend or something, expecting ovations etc. His departure on a free transfer might seriously hurt our club and he doesn't seem to care about that at all. Whenever he comes back I hope he just gets the silent treatment from our fans.

Anyway, I was downplaying his importance to our team earlier in the season but tbh we'll definitely miss his quality. Can be a Sh*t defender at times but he is our most creative player, even Salah isn't the same player without him. Hope we can find a decent replacement.

The best striker of the ball with an incredible range and a great eye for a pass, he is a winner and a leader and we will certainly miss him. Trent is a standout player and why Real want him.

And a backstabbing traitor a la Owen. Wouldn't surprise me if he comes back in a few years wearing a City sweater...

Ian Rush left us looking for a new challenge and went to Juventus, it didn’t work out for him and he came back a year later. Had social media been around then with all the venom and vitriol Trent is probably experiencing, he probably would not have come back. Ian Rush is a legend and one of the best players we had.

The only thing that bothers me that about Trent leaving is he leaves for free. Is that his fault or the fault of the club for letting the contract run down? I have no issue with him wanting to play in Spain in that nicer weather. He won’t have the same support in Real that he does in Liverpool but that is his choice to make. I wish him success as long as it’s not against us. I think they won’t care about his defending but will love his vision and range of passing.

The club has to carry a lot of the blame for him leaving on a free.

This contract negotiations should have been wrapped up last summer. Or Trent should have been given the choice to sign a new deal or go on the transfer list.
