I wonder what the combined profits/losses are over the same period. Maybe they haven't won trophies but that doesn't mean they're not successful companies.
£ profit per £ of net spend.

Surprised with that tbh, didn't expect Bayern, Man U and Chelsea to be below us. This must include bonuses and stuff like that.

I think it shows that we are being responsibly run. We are on the FFP line and we are doing it through legitimate revenue and little debt. Our net spend is low so that we can afford the players we have. Many complain about the owners but they work methodically and without emotion and seem to make the right choices. It also shows we can’t pay ridiculous wages because we are already on the line. Trent, Salah and VVD will know what the club can afford, with financial Fair Play rules it’s not an endless pit like it was.

It’s a shame we are not in the Club World Cup in the summer, apparently the winner gets a lot for that (as much as 100 million).

I agree mate, the owners know how to run a bussiness that's certain. But I'm still surprised at the high wage bill. Higher than Bayern Munich? They have at least 2 players on higher wages than Salah, our top earner, and at least 4 players on wages higher than Virgil.

I searched up a bit and apparently, only 30% of that amount is the basic salary of players, and about 30% are the wages of the other staff (manager, coaches, executives etc.). So that leaves about 30% or more paid in bonuses for the players, which basically doubles their basic wages. I can assume our top players are also the ones getting the biggest bonuses. If that's all true then I don't understand what more does Salah want for a new contract, his basic salary might be something less than £400k but with those bonuses he's likely earning way more than that and is probably in the top 5 highest earners in Europe already.

Good post Damjan. Don't forget we have a very professional Academy to pay for, medical team, data analysis teams and a worldwide team of scouts none of which are cheap.

I like to think that our £377 million represent the cost of running a well structured and managed club, whereas ManU's £360 million is 50% wasted on bad players (and all extremely high base salaries as there is no hope of winning a bonus), over staffing in the wrong jobs and a complete absence of whole departments that form an essential part of a well run modern football club as Ratcliffe admits in his interview with rat face..

Liverpool owners FSG are 'exploring a deal' to purchase European side as they look to develop multi-club model - but they 'face competition from rivals'
Liverpool owners FSG reportedly want to add a second club to their portfolio
However, they are expected to face competition from another European giant

Liverpool's owners are considering buying a European side in their bid to develop a multi-club model in football, according to a report.

Fenway Sports Group are thought to be in competition with a rival Champions League club, who also wish to expand their revenue streams in football.

The multi-club ownership model became widely popular due to the success of City Football Group. The British-based holding company administers clubs such as Manchester City, Girona and New York City FC.

FSG’s desire to buy a second football club was made abundantly clear when they entered negotiations to buy French side Bordeaux last year, before they went into administration.

These preliminary discussions concluded without a deal. Bordeaux cited FSG's concerns over the significant future costs associated with the club's stadium and its broader financial issues.

But now, FSG have reignited their interest in diversifying their football club portfolio by exploring a deal to purchase Spanish second-tier side Malaga, as per The Athletic.

Liverpool's FSG ownership are reportedly interested in purchasing Spanish club Malaga

They are specifically interested in acquiring the stake of majority shareholder Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani.

The Qatari businessman owns 51 per cent of Malaga, while the remaining 49 per cent is owned by Spanish hotel and real estate group Blue Bay.

If FSG are successful in their bid, they would be adding a sixth professional sports team to their portfolio. They already own Liverpool, MLB side Boston Red Sox, NHL organisation Pittsburgh Penguins, NASCAR’s RFK Racing, and TGL’s Boston Common Golf.

However, FSG are expected to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain’s owners Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), who made their first foray into multi-club ownership when they purchased a 22 per cent stake in SC Braga in October 2022.

PSG's interest in Malaga has been well-documented, dating back almost two years.

But, amid interest from the French giants in 2023, Malaga owner Al Thani insisted that he will hold onto his stake in the club for as long as possible.

'I will never, ever put Malaga up for sale,' he said. The Qatari Emir then doubled down on his claim, even comparing the affinity he has for the club to his children.

Soon after Al Thani purchased Malaga in 2010, the club were hit by financial troubles due to unpaid wages and debts.

They reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 2012-13, but were banned from European competitions for a season due to FFP breaches.

In 2018, Malaga were relegated from LaLiga, ending a 10-year stay in Spain's top-flight.

They have since been relegated to the third division, and are yet to make it back into LaLiga. FSG's swoop to save the club from decline could be perfectly timed, as they currently sit 15th in the second division, with few signs of optimism.

Not surprised they are interested as it ticks all the boxes as in it won't cost them much and won't have to put a lot in. I'd wonder though if the recent ruling on the superleague has anything to do with it.
