Did anybody else think "Aw f*ck not him" when Nunez was brought on ? I just knew there'd be a situation where he'd miss a sitter and sure enough he didn't disappoint.
Faced with stroking the ball into an empty net he blazes it over the bar   :veryangry .
Christ it was a chance that any of our youth players could have converted.

In any case we need the best version of him if we want to succeed this season, summer is a different story. I just hope the fans continue to support him to give him a bit of confidence and not turn on him for not acknowledging the away supporters.

Just wondering what the sketch is with training attackers in the regiment. We should hire Fowler  1-2-1 session with Darwin lol. I guess there is only a certain amount you could teach.

Players like Fowler, Owen and Salah are supremely confident, it’s from birth and you can’t teach it. You can do all sorts of things to help their confidence but it’s fickle and a bad couple of chances and it’s all lost. I’d bet you Darwin could go on a run of scoring 6 goals in a match, then not score for the next 12 matches. He’s mentally weak and I don’t think at 25 years you can teach that out. Even aside from his misses, he makes weak passes, overhit passes and loses possession. The agent of chaos is good but that is only as a sub and when we need to change things up. Slot likes control and he has the least of all the players.

Slot being highly critical of Darwin in his latest presser. Saying his work rate hasn’t been good enough in his past 2 games.

Not sure I agree with slagging off a player in public. For sure, it hasn’t worked out, but keep the criticism behind closed doors. As a club, we are better than this.

Yeah, I remember when Brendan did it, didn't quite like it back then either and it didn't have any positive effects. Klopp never criticised players in the media but most likely said everything that needed to be said behind closes doors.

maybe Slot has a more open policy and if it's true get it said. Nunez is done here. I'd be suprised if we see him again in a red shirt. If he plays tonight and bags a hat   trick then Slot will take that praise

Arne has been pretty blunt from the moment he arrived here, he just call's it as he see's it [balls and strikes i think the yanks say] so its certainly nothing personal re Darwin. I've heard him call out Trent's one-on-one defending and Mo for not tracking back before now too.
I do feel a bit sorry for Nunez though, the lad does give it everything but i have never seen a striker miss so many sitters, even at my age i honestly reckon i would have put at least half if not most of the sitters he's missed away, as much as i'd like him to stay i've got to be honest and admit that i think we'd be a better team with Isak up top.

Mate if we had Isak we would walk this league, hope we sign someone similar quality.

On Isak, I think Newcastle asking price will be too much for him, with many suitors interested. Given our sell and buy policy can't see us getting him.

I can't see us getting Isak. Newcastle bought him for some 70 million euros and he's still got 2 or 3 more years on his contract, we'll be lucky if they settle for anything less than 100m. That's if they want to sell him at all, which they don't, Newcastle has all the money in the world.

Yakka mentioned Cunha from Wolves in a different thread, he'll be a more realistic target, but even he was bought by Wolves for 50 million euros just last season.

If you miss misses doesn’t that mean you scored?

Wolves paid £43 million for the lad and he's on £90,000 a week. I doubt a relegated side can pay those wages in the Championship. Relegation would be a financial disaster for the club.

Player              Wage
Pablo Sarabia £110,000
Gonçalo Guedes £91,000
Nélson Semedo £84,000
Matheus Cunha £79,000
André £68,000
Craig Dawson £67,000
José Sá £65,000
Hwang Hee-Chan £56,000
João Gomes £55,000
Saša Kalajdžic £53,000
Boubacar Traoré £53,000
Matt Doherty £49,000
Mario Lemina £49,000
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde £45,000
Rodrigo Gomes £43,000
Sam Johnstone £43,000

Yeah £43m is around 52m euros, like I said. In any case, if they spent £43m on him just last season they'll want at least £65-70m if we want to buy.

I'm also hoping Wolves get relegated so we can maybe get some of their players cheaper, but I don't see it happening. Soton are pretty much already out and Leicester and Ipswich aren't much better.
