Aston Villa vs Liverpool 19/02 19:30

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Team news

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara has a hamstring problem and joins the club's lengthy injury list.

Winger Leon Bailey and defenders Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash will be assessed ahead of the game.

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is back after serving a suspension following his sending-off in the Merseyside derby last week.

However, Cody Gakpo is unlikely to be fit after picking up a knock in that game.

Defender Joe Gomez, who injured his hamstring in the FA Cup defeat at Plymouth earlier this month, might need surgery and faces another extended period on the sidelines.

--------------------------------

These lot are on and off form, played quite poorly in their last game. I'm guessing their new inclusions of Asensio and Rashford may start. No easy game as every one these days have their own troubles. We win this one will go 10 points ahead of Arsenal. With City up next I feel this is another one of those must win games. I hope we perform better than we have recently.

Huge 7 days coming up, with 3 tough games that will make or break our title challenge.

Need to get a win here. It’ll put us 10 points clear and the pressure then switches to Arsenal for Saturday.

Think we might need to rotate one or two - we looked very leggy against wolves. Perhaps Jones for Mac and Tsimikas for Robertson. Trent also needs to perform, cos he was garbage against wolves.

We say this very often (mostly cause it's true) but with City and Newcastle coming just a few days after this match this one is a must win. If we drop points here and then against City as well, we might end up with only 4 or 5 points above Arsenal with them having a game in hand! That will give them a huge boost and we don't want that. Given our poor performance in the second half against Wolves and Villa's ability to give anyone a decent match, everyone will be expecting us to fail in this one and start our downfall they were all hoping for, we must prove them wrong.

Although this Villa team can cause problems for any side at any time (drew with Arsenal after being down 2-0 just a month ago), but they do have a lot of problems. They're not really in the best of forms, have many injuries, and should be affected with fatigue at least as much as we are since they play in the CL.

Anyway, looks like fatigue is starting to creep up on us once again as I feared. I agree with the comment above, with so many games coming so fast, we have to rotate.

Interesting line up, Sboz on left?big game for Jones.

New boys starting for them, they'll treat this like a final.

This looks worryingly tricky. Rashford has a lot to prove and no doubt he would like to excel against Liverpool. We can’t afford a second half performance similar to the Wolves game. Our defenders really will have to be on their game.

If he does, it’ll be the only game he does for Villa. Joke of a player.
