Plymouth Argyle vs Liverpool - FA CUP

Liverpool Football Club - Games

A lot of youngsters and fringe players starting today.

Gomez also starts....before going off with a new injury at 10 mins  :(

Scrappy stuff. Elliott and Chiesa not really having much impact, which is disappointing (given both need to force their way into the first 11).

Hopefully a better second half from the reds.

1-0 to Plymouth through a pen. Not suprised tbh we've been terrible. Only Nunez and Jones on the bench to help change things.

What happens if it ends in a draw I always forget, extra time or replay?

Extra time and pens if a draw at 90mins.

Can't have any complaints - we've been very poor. Think Slot might regret not having a few more first teamers on the bench - some of the kids are struggling with this.

Even the likes of Elliott, Endo and Chiesa all showing why they can't get a crack at the first 11 in the premier league.

Don't see why Jones isn't playing when midfield hasn't been the best.

Starting to think Slot doesn't really want to progress in the FA Cup.

Also think some of the first teamers in this squad will have few complaints when they are moved n in the summer.

Really awful stuff.

Got what we deserved. F**k all.

I can forgive the young lads, but some of those senior players should really hang their heads in shame.

Quansah,, Elliott, Endo, Nunez and Chiesa were garbage. And should all be moved on in the summer - they shouldn't start a first team game again after that embarrassment.

Jota was the only one who looked like he might do something.

That must have been it, because that team selection was terrible. Not saying we should have been playing Salah and Virgil but a midfield of MacConnel and Nyoni isn't going to cut it against a Championship side. Jones should have started and Nunez as well, what are we saving them for? No point in having the likes of Diaz and Jota upfront if there is no one that can deliver the ball to them.

Losing a cup game isn't something I'll lose sleep about but this could have been handled better.

Not the best I guess, poor performances l, expected more from some of the senior lot.

Oh well one less competition, one less game.

I think Slot got what he wanted. The bench was quite unbelievable and not in a good way.

Missed the game, so can't comment on the team and individual performances

But I've been thinking, if we need to unleashed some burden from our bag, this would be it...but deep down I thot we might still progress if just to give the rest of the squad some top level game time

Not making excuses but this result could be strategic. It would be stupid to focused on all 4 front when the games are coming thick and fast. We put more emphasis into the Carabao Cup because we were already in the semis so exiting the FA Cup with so many games ahead of us could be a smart move

Well, just my thoughts anyway

And ...oh Gomez...what's more is there to be said about his tofu legs?  :no

Didn't Klopp get dumped out of the FA or League Cup in his first year here by fielding a team of reserves?

Seem to remember a fair bit of stick being thrown his way because of it. Could be a mistake managers who are new to the English game make when they arrive.

Slot's priorities are league and Champions League titles. Clearly he doesn't want to jeopardise those by attempting to win all 4 comps - something that derailed us last year.

I admit I didn't watch it myself. Was watching the egg chasing instead.
Maybe I too arrogantly thought this was a done deal. Just like Slot. Maybe he too thought the players at his disposal, academy kids included, would be good enough to win against a side bottom of their league. Maybe he didn't bank on this being their World Cup/FA Cup Final/Olympics all rolled into one, and would be up for it.
So I followed on the beeb instead, expecting normal order to be restored.
As Woof says, from what I read, the performance seemed shocking for a club and players who are gulfs in class better. Supposedly, anyway.
