Brentford vs Liverpool 15:00 ko 18/01

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:52 pm

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns for the visit of Liverpool.

Rico Henry and Ben Mee both returned to the squad for the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday, with Henry coming on as a late substitute.

Liverpool will assess the fitness of forward Diogo Jota, who felt some discomfort during his goalscoring cameo appearance against Nottingham Forest in midweek.

Luis Diaz missed training on Thursday because of illness but he is expected to be available to face Brentford, while Darwin Nunez returns after suspension.

-----------------------------------

I'm nervous for this one, these lot are not the best but a stubborn side. Getting that draw against City will give them confidence.

We drop points here, then you could say we are royally bottling it.

This is a must win game, we must start better in the first half.

Jota looks like a doubt so I guess Gakpo will take his place.

I'd play Tsimkas over Robertson and hopefully Chiesa will get some mins.

I honestly don't want to see TAA start this game. He makes me as nervous now as Quansah does every time he plays. And I wouldn't start Robbo either. Or Jones.
I personally think Nunez should be sold in this window so him being back from suspension is irrelevant. He just simply isn't going to score goals, not for this team, not in this league.

Brentford don't defend deep like Forest, in fact I'd say their defence is a bit suspect overall, but their attack is solid and like OP said they're a stubborn side that can get a result against big teams. It will be difficult but we can't afford to drop points in yet another game. If we keep it tight at the back we should be able to win.

Jota being out again is just typical, he hardly played 30 minutes last time and he got injured?

I'd also play Tsimikas instead of Robbo, rest of the team stays the same as against Forest.

59% possession,  19 attempts on goal, 5 shots on goal, 6 shots off goal, 8 blocked shots and1 big chance created. We really should be ahead here and would be only for the same story in front of goal.

f*cking hell man, I was losing my mind with all those nearly misses, screaming at the tv like a lunatic. Couldn't believe Brentford would hold us to a goalless draw, I'm pretty sure they haven't kept a single clean sheet this season! Thank God for Darwin actually turning up for once, at the last minute.

This f*cking team man, its gonna be the death of me some day!
