Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool 14/01 20:00 ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Toughest fixture to date imo, away to high flying forest, who are in better recent form than us.

Forest are on a 7 game wining run, last loss early Dec vs City. Chris Wood their top scorer, must keep him contained.

We know Arsenal are inconsistent, however last thing I want is for them to close the gap and still feel we can be pushed off the summit.

I've said it many times the title this season is there for the taking. This is a must win game, to show the chasers we mean business.

I'm assuming same line up as United with Sboz in place of Jones.
I think Nunez is suspended for this one, doesn't make a difference anyway!

Nothing but 3 points please!!!!!!!

Big game. Forest on a 7 match winning streak, Newcastle on an 8 match winning streak, 3 points against both clubs are a must.

Nunez being out is no loss as you say, Danns and Chiesa can cover. Not sure Jones is the best choice, he's so inconsistent... Elliot would be more attacking.

This will be a physical game so I hope we are prepared to get stuck in. We won't play them off the pitch so need to be disciplined and ready to graft for a result.

Not sure Jones or Elliot are good choices for this as both will just end up chasing shadows . If Szob doesnt start or isnt fit for 90 then play Endo alongside Grav and push Mac up. Chiesa still looks a long way off a player who can do well in the league imo.

Probably the worst time to be playing these, they're in super form. And considering we lost against them at home, tomorrow will be one of the toughest games of the season. In fact when I was looking at the fixtures weeks ago I had us drawing this one, but having dropped points in games we shouldn't have, like against Man U, we now need to get those points from tougher games, like this one.

Slot is the kind of manager that likes to analyze the oponent before playing them so I hope he was looking at the games Forest lost, against a weakened Man City, against Arsenal, and at home agaist Newcastle and Fulham. We have almost everyone fit, we know they're good so we won't be underestimating them, surely we are capable of outsmarting them?

I just hope we don't go 1-0 down, I know we can crawl back into the game but I can't handle the stress lol. They will play like it is a cup final and so should we. No brain farts at the back keep composed, chances will come.

I can't remember whether it was Nico Williams wanting a move or LFC deciding he wasn't good enough. For me, he was one that got away.
I'd be a bit nervy about this game. Their coach is doing an incredible job there with it has to be said relatively mediocre players. On paper we should be winning this. On paper they shouldn't have beaten us already either.

I think Forrest have spent about 350m since they got promoted and were docked points last year for over spending so they should have decent enough players. They have a defensive style coach and they really parked the bus when they played us at Anfield, hopefully being at home they will be a little more adventurous and leave themselves open at the back. Short of that if we pass well like we can and don’t show selfishness in front of goal we should win this, we need to score first to make it easier for ourselves.

As for Nico Williams, I think he knew with Trent ahead of him he wouldn’t get much game time.

Seeing Liverpool and Forest battling it out at the top of the table is a bit of a trip down memory lane for those of us of a certain vintage. Paisley v Clough really was a clash of the managerial titans, Clough put together another decent team when Kenny was in charge but it wasnt as good as that late 70's team of his which won 2 European Cups on the bounce and dumped us out of the European Cup as well.
Lets hope we are not on the recieving end of a similar kick in the teeth tonight. We really need to win this one and we really need to string together a few wins as well, too many draws of late.

I think the win vs City was so pivotal and it's when we became real contenders for the league this season. I think tonight is just as important! I don't think Forrest are contenders for the league, but where they currently are in the league, home advantage, and the fact they can close the gap at the top to 3 points, gives them a real incentive to go out and get a big result tonight.

I think we controlled the game at Anfield against these guys, but we didn't take our chances, and got caught with a sucker punch.

We need to be focused tonight and get the job done.. the worst thing we can do is lose and give Arsenal encouragement that they can catch us.

We need to get a result tonight and put 9 points between us and the rest.

A defeat will open the door to the rest - let's do this!  :buttrock  :buttrock

Defence was nowhere to be seen. Konate in midfield, Trent miles away from the ball. Awful stuff.
