I'd offer him 500k a week 3 year contract. The man is a machine that's not stopping any time soon.

Mo wants to stay, we want him to stay and he’s in top form - I think a deal will be done.

But Mo should call it a day when it comes to international football. There’s no way he should be going off to AFCON next year and picking up injury.

I wonder if that’s what cause problems with the negotiations?

Don't think he's been offered anything yet which is mad considering his worth to the team. We need to do something soon or else have a serious replacement lined up.

Worth discussing as well just how strong his loyalty is to us ahead of continuing to play at this level. Would he move to City, Arsenal or back to the Chavs if released from here. On a Bosman he could get way more than we would give. Hate it to happen but if we don't want him I think he would.

As good as he’s been I don’t think he’ll ever reach those levels with us again. I also think his play will drop if he signed for us as I feel he’s playing for a contract. He will only regress and we need to trust the transfer committee to do their job. I realize that he is a great player and will be hard to replace, mainly his injury record but we need to move forward. I know it’s against the grain but that is what I think. We have moved on from Klopp and we can move on from Mo.

No player is bigger than the club.

Mo has been an absolute legend in so many ways, will a goal and an assist against City being 'normal'.

But Michael Edwards knows Mo can't last forever and probably has his replacement lined up for the end of the season whether Mo stays or not so he can't give Mo a £400,000 a week 3 year contract when he knows he only has 18 months of service left at most.

I expect the disagreement is whether 2 years or 3. Please - sign him for 2 because I want to see the next 25 year old Fernando Torres in our team within the next 12 months.

I think you’re right, Reg.

Mo will know his next contract will possibly be his last big money maker. I don’t blame him for wanting the best possible deal, which will likely be an expensive 3 year contract.

Just have to trust the club and hope they reach an agreement.

From what I gather it's not official yet but very close to signing.

'The New York Mets, an American baseball team, reportedly recruited Juan Soto in perhaps the most lucrative sporting contract ever signed. According to ESPN, a sports network, Mr Soto’s 15-year deal is worth $765m. The 26-year-old outfielder was a free agent and received offers from, among other teams, the New York Yankees, for whom he starred last season.'

Let's hope Mo doesn't read the papers.

Just wondering, if Salah does sign and gives us a few more years being consistent as he is. Where would that rank him amongst the greats who played for us. I'd definitely have him in top 3. He just needs a few more major trophies.I don't think anyone could surpass Kenny with what he achieved here as a player.

Lets face it imagine any of us were Salah's agent, his form is so good [17 premier league goals in 18 premier league games, that's a solid number for an entire season never mind before New Years Day] even people like us who know absolutely nothing, zilch, nada about representing sports stars would be asking for a kings ransom. Say for arguments sake he does go on to win the Balon d'Or this year, what would his image rights be worth particularly right across the arab world where they are not exactly short of a few bob. All this and more is probably being thrashed out/discussed and the discussions probably change every week as he reaches another milestone or breaks another record. He's one goal behind Thierry Henry now, that's next on his list, he'll only be 2 goals behind Lampard then and so on and so forth. The lawyers representing the club probably want his form to tank more than Arsenal fans do.

Watched MOTD there. No doubt we are watching a world class footballer at the absolute pinnacle of his game (as good as he was 4-5 seasons ago). Drink it in lads, we don't see this very often, he is on a different planet right now.

Everyone is so damn "here and now" when it comes to football. Salah is over 33 in the summer. ALL players drop off in their mid 30s, that's just a fact of life and the club is not interested in sitting with players over the hill on MASSIVE contracts in a few years just cause they are great now. If Salah wants to be one of the best paid players into his late 30s he's should be looking elsewhere.
