Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Sat Nov 02, 2024 10:51 am

Forget City, they are almost certain to be docked points, the title race imo is between us and Arsenal and i believe the whole thing will be probably be decided between now and Christmas. It's all about that 4 point gap and who cracks first, if they can reel us back in i think they'll walk it, if we can extend our lead to somewhere around the 10 point mark i think we'll do it. Until they can reduce that gap though Arsenal will be going into every game with the sword of damocles dangling above their heads, our job is to keep it there. Both of us have got tricky fixtures today so the next few hours could prove to be pivotal in the 2024/25 title race.

With Rodri gone for the season, who much deserved the Balon d'Or this year IMO despite the controversy and criticism, City might miss out on the title even without getting points docked, so the top spot is wide open this season.

Anyway, its different in the league of course, but I think we did well against Brighton in the cup on their own pitch and if it weren't for a couple defensive errors by us they wouldn't have scored at all. With Virgil and Konate back in the starting line-up, we (hopefully) won't see similar mistakes today.

Yeah although City are still top they're not blowing right through teams 4 and 5 nil like in the YaYa Toure/David Silva era, in fact more often than not they are having to rely on late goals to salvage the points. I know people say it's only the carabao cup but in their pomp City won that 4 or 5 times on the spin, them going out midweek would be another worrying sign if i were a City fan.
As for us i'm sure both sides will make changes and it would be just typical if we beat them down there in he cup only to drop points at home but that being said as good as Brighton are i think most people neutrals included would regard it as a bit of a shock if we didnt come away with the 3 points later.

Don't even want to write this because i know i'll just mock it but fwiw Newcastle are 1 up at HT v Arsenal. We saw last week particularly with City how things can change in the second 45 so not even bothering to get my hopes up yet, i'm fully expecting it to finish 1-2 or even 1-3.

Given Arsenal have lost our game today takes on huge significance, apparently Arsenal's next league game is Chelsea away as well, if that's true the next week or two could go a long way to deciding the title. We cant look a gift horse like this in the mouth, we just can't.
Come on Liverpool don't blow it.

You were right in your initial statement Yakka, Newcaslte proved to be a tricky fixture for Arsenal. Not in the best of forms Newcastle right now but they do have a knack of showing up against big sides this season.

Now lets to our job and hope that City somehow drop points as well.

Everyone just casually jogging around at the back. No urgency when teams get half chances. We need a player like Carra who'll sprint and put his head in the way of a shot.

Brighton playing some very neat football now...Van Dijk got found out but Kellerher to the rescue. Could easily be 2 down

As it is, Brighton are looking more likely to get a second and third before any of our passes will come good

Poor half from us there. Struggling to see anything like a decent player in Gakpo, Nunez or Szoboszlai. All been terrible that half.

We are moving the ball excruciatingly slow! It's been a painful first half. I've noticed this has been a pattern under Slot since he arrived.. slow first half, then we up the gears for the 2nd.

Brighton looks like they got us all figured out...zero intensity. hard to speak of any positive from our play. And Trent, Tsimikas, Gakpo...oh...nevermind
