UCL -Milan vs Liverpool 17/09/24 20:00 ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Federico Chiesa is in Liverpool's matchday squad for their Champions League opener at AC Milan, but will not start at the San Siro.

The 26-year-old winger joined the Reds from Juventus for £10m in August and has yet to feature for his new club.

Asked about Chiesa's inclusion, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said it was still "too early for him to play 90 minutes".

Liverpool are playing their first Champions League match after a year away, having competed in the Europa League last season.

"It's a big game, also for me, but a big game for us," said Slot, who takes charge of his first Champions League match as Liverpool boss.

"Because of the history these two teams have, the venue it is played in, it is one to look forward to."

Liverpool, who suffered a shock 1-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, have no fresh injury concerns.

Tyler Morton has also travelled in the 23-man playing squad. The 21-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at Hull City.

Just hope they have recovered from the international break and we don’t have a repeat of the Forest debacle.

Same line up except 2 changes. Gakpo for Diaz and Tsimikas for Robbo. Maybe Slot feels we something different on the left.

Not sure about Tsimikas facing Pulisic there but we'll see how it goes I guess. A bit concerned about Trent vs Leao too.

Goal came down that side anyway. Gakpo is far too slow to track as well.

Is it one of those nights for Mo ? hits the bar twice and doesn't get the bounce ?

I think Mo has lost more than a yard of pace. No acceleration in him at all.

I'll take 2-1, but I'd really like to see the strikers score

I was watching TAA in one of their attacks just there. Drawn to the ball, completely oblivious to the Milan guy behind him. One decent pass and he was totally stuffed.
Defending is not in his gameplan. He doesn't think or see what's around him.

We haven't been great but Milan have been even worse. We deserved to be infront and it probably should have been a bigger lead at the break.

Jota has been annonymous and fluffed a very good chance. I'd bring him off second half. Gakpo has been decent I thought, at least going forward.
