Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:43 pm

I know we say it every week but this game. is massive, not just in the context of whats the use of handing united their @rse at Old Trafford if you are going to drop points at home to a side you should be beating the very next game but because in a season where there is a very real chance that City may be docked points Arsenal face a trip to Spurs for a tricky encounter made even trickier by the fact they'll be missing both Rice and Odergard.
There's a good chance we could be 4 or 5 points clear of the Gunners come Sunday evening so we have to do our job and make sure we win to pile the pressure on them. If we can get our noses in front suddenly every game Arsenal go into they are under gas not to drop any more points.

Good post Yakka. Every game is a must win if you want to win the league. I'd like to say let's hope we have more youngsters ready to make the leap into the first team to cover Elliot and Macallister but haven't we just sold a few?

I just hope Slot doesn't get complacent and field a weakened side in order to rest a few.
Mac allister has been training with the squad and according to Slots pre match interview Elliot is the only one out..

This is probably the first real test…. How to keep playing well while playing CL midweek.  Big run of games with relatively easier teams to go on a run.

For an arl so-and-so like me seeing us up against teams like Ipswich and Forest again its hard not to get nostalgic. Back in the late 70's/early 80's when those clubs were managed by the Bobby Robson's and Brian Clough's of this world they were our biggest rivals. This time of year has always been a bit bitter sweet for me, on one hand you've got the melancholy of nights starting to draw in and a chill appearing in the air but on the other the footy season starting and things like Bonfire night, Halloween (or Duck Apple as we used to call it), Christmas and New Year looming up on the horizon which were big excuses to party and meet up with family and friends when i was younger. My partying days are well over these days but Slot's impressive start has meant there's a lot of optimism and positivity flying around atm, lets hope its still there tomorrow evening and the lads can do the business against this crowd tomorrow.

We look jaded ..far too many passes being hit too long or not finding their man in promising postions.
Going to be a long second half if we don't get our act togther and sharpish.

Nunez and Gakpo on for Diaz and Jota around 55 mins unless we score.

Only listening to it on the radio but performance wise it sounds pretty flat, no need to press the panic button yet but we need to improve second half, be a bit of a comedown if we drop points here after playing so well last time out.

Poor first half. Look tired after the intl break to be honest. Not sure where a goal is going to come from here. Who knows, maybe Nunez could redeem himself here. Jota looks off the boil and Mo can't place a pass.

It's time to throw Darwin and Chiesa in...our boys are playing at different frequencies today

Not looking great here.. we look half asleep. We need to switch gears quick, get Darwin and Chiesa on for Jota and Diaz and the crowd will hopefully lift the team.

Chiesa is not on the bench. Tripple change by us, which is understadable, Trent moving in midfield by the looks of it. I would have brought off Szobozlai instead of Diaz though.

yeah, just seen Chiesa isn't on the bench. It's good for Salah because he's having a off day today.

Forest wasting time now...looks like they will be happy with a draw today. Meanwhile our players played like they never played on the same pitch before
