An encouraging pre season tour in the u.s.a   

But, looking forward to the upcoming season is anyone concerned about our defence, particularly our CB pairing ?
We've got Van Dyke, Konate, Quansah and Gomez. Unless I've had a brain freeze and missed someone, that sounds like a pretty thin pool of CB's to pick from considering the amount of competitions and games we may have to play in.
I know there's a lot of focus on us signing a dedicated DM but surely an additional quality CB is also required ?

Agreed on this. Surely Gomez was none too happy about being part exchange for Gordon, bound to make him consider his options. And Konate can't stay fit. Plus VVD is showing signs of slowing down.

3 up at HT. Jota with a volley for the opener, followed up by Diaz with a brace.

Ali, Kostas, Quansah, Vvd, trent, Mac, Szob, Grav, Diaz, Jota, Salah.

2nd half now and no changes which is surprising as Trent looked to be struggling before HT

Watching Jones in game 2 today convinces me he's championship level at best. Utterly useless. And Nunez still has a shyte first touch

This second game is awful stuff. Nunez missing sitters again. Et plus ca change

I just don't get what some see in Jones either. He is a squad player and after all this time still looks like one. At this point you have to move him on and let one of the younger lads take his position in the squad. Nyoni should get the minutes imo and we should entertain offers for Jones.

Watching the 2nd game and tbh was expecting a bit more from the bigger names on show. Nunez was poor and Gakpo awful. I know it's about fitness but I would be expecting them to work the keeper regardless. Didn't see Gomez in either game so hopefully that doesn't mean he is on the way out. Robbo got a half anyway but doubt he is in a position to start against Ipswich. Likewise with Trent. The starting line up in the earlier game with the inclusion of Bradley for Trent will be the team for Saturday I reckon.

The only positive was Doak. Pity they're gonna ship him out on loan. He looked lively. Young, raw but he has something

We can't trust Nunez in these title deciding games. He might score 2 vs your Brightons, but he's so inconsistent. I think he tried 3 off the ground backheels today, and all were way off the mark. We need a CM hopefully that Zubimendi.. and then we need a proper goalscorer incase Jota gets injured.
