Diaz out and now Jota, we will have to grind out results until WC. Glad Bobby has clicked back in form, just need Nunez to get in gear.

Absolutely gutted for the lad missing out on the WC. He will be almost 30 the next time it comes around. Didn't think he was injured myself but seizing up with cramp towards the end. With him and Diaz out it leaves us thin again..

Did we rush him back a bit early from his last injury and maybe 96 minutes was a bit much in a game like that so soon after returning.

Must have been a bad injury to be out 4 months. Why would you be out for 4 month for a calf injury?

Quality strikes, Jota finishing with Salah is top notch. Not sure what are stats with shots/conversion, he maybe above Salah.

Any see some similarities to Fowler with his finishing...
The strikes against Bournemouth reminded me of Fowlers, precise, low and accurate shots.

Looks like Jota picked up another knock at the weekend which will keep him out of action for the next couple of weeks.

Awesome, just what we need!

Jota is the best finisher we got but sadly we don't see him as often as we require.

I've just read that the 7 defeats from this season, Jota has started 6 of those games.

He's not playing well, he's lost about 5 yards in the last couple of seasons from injury aswell. He's slow in the press, not great at building up play, and now he's not even scoring goals.

Nunez as bonkers as he is, is at least a threat. He forces errors from his work rate.

I agree. He's become really similar to Salah and not in a positive way, if he's not scoring or assisting he's not very useful. We can afford one such player but not two playing at the same time. Our team looked better when Diaz was playing CF and Gakpo LW.

I think Jota is a far superior player than Nunez and while Nunez has size going for him, I’d probably always choose him over Nunez. Jota is a clever player and our best header of the ball even though he is short. Good players don’t stop being good players but can be injured and not at their best. A few months ago everyone was saying he’s our best finisher and now he’s in a slump everyone is writing him off. Salah is 33 and in a contract dispute so a drop off could be expected, Jota I would say is certainly playing with a niggle as he’s not going to lose his technique which is high. I saw a stat which showed his strike rate is better than Salah. Jota’s conversion rate is 21.7% while Salah is 24.3% but Salah takes penalties.

(ChatGPT  :grinning:)

As of April 2025, Mohamed Salah has scored 27 goals in the Premier League 2024/2025 season, with 9 of these being penalties.  This means he has scored 18 non-penalty goals. Considering he has taken 108 shots in total, his non-penalty shot conversion rate is approximately 16.7%. This is calculated by dividing his 18 non-penalty goals by his total shots (18/108).

So according to the stats, even with his slump he’s a better finisher than Salah which is incredible as it sounds, Salah obviously chips in with more assists.

One thing I will say I noticed with Jota is he seems standoffish with team mates, even when he scores. He doesn’t look so popular among his team mate and sometimes looks awkward when celebrating, a little like Mane was. His biggest flaw though is his injury record. I don’t think he is a sicknote like Sturridge was, I think his size and aggressive play means he’ll often get kicked and suffer the consequence.

Nunez is not a smart player but would do well when you need an agent of chaos to smash things up a bit but he has no composure or guile, Nunez would miss a sitter, then score a worldie then miss a sitter, I think Jota is consistently a better player.

We need to replace Nunez as a priority, Jota is fragile and Mo is getting old (and failed to show up for 2x PSG and the League Cup final). Diaz is being run into the ground.
How do you plan the 25/26 campaign around that?

Wish I could answer your question Reg  :(  .
Whatever the combination our front three have been looking a bit stale. Diaz has been working his socks off but sadly with little reward. Jota ? as others have said , a far better finisher than Nunez but his form and fitness is up and down, as for Mo   :lookaround   he seems to have lost his Mojo, to be fair he's usually the most marked player on the pitch with at least one player always closing him down and another in close attendance but there was a time when even three players couldn't stop him, his play is now almost 90% predictable i.e. try to dribble through 2 or 3 defenders (and lose the ball) or play a short pass back or sideways.
Having said all of that, I'd still have Mo, Jota and Diaz in my squad but would be all out searching for an injection of new blood, apart from the fella Isak I'm not sure were that would come from.

Wrong place to say this but the club wanted Isak but Klopp pushed for Nunez, at the time no one really knew Isak like they know him now. I think at 130m or whatever we will never buy Isak, the club probably write that off as a missed chance, It’ll be one of the money clubs he’ll end up going to, we’ve been priced out. They did identify him though and that’s the point, probably why Edwards left.

As time goes on I’m having real faith with the club’s ability to find good players, my bet is they will line up someone that is just about to explode on the scene that we haven’t really heard of. Time will tell but they will really need to earn their money this summer because the players they bring in will shape the Slot era. Losing potentially your three world class players will have an effect.
