We're in the fourth round draw - Yeovil 0 v 2 liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Despite a poor first half performance by our lads – we managed to beat Yeovil with a nice two-goal cushion, mainly thanks to Emile Heskey.
I have always been a big fan of Heskey, who has received a lot of criticism over the years he has been at Anfield. His presence today was immediately felt by all the other players and once Heskey was brought on, the Liverpool team raised their spirits and drive to go on and win the game. Heskey is a TOP-CLASS player with international experience. It is players whose competence fits the bill to be called a TOP-CLASS player which a team like Liverpool needs. With no disrespect to the likes of Pongole, the ex-Leicester forward deserves to be pencilled into the starting eleven straight away especially when Owen is unavailable.
Well done lads.

I don't know if Heskey can be classified as a top-class player, but surely he has to be more consistent, especially in the actual goalscoring department. He is a big, strong lad with a good shot but his first touch needs improving and like I said earlier, consistency in delivering the goods has to be there more often than not.
Even a moody guy like Mark Viduka is a more consistent player over a season than Heskey. Perhaps kermit has used him wrongly by often playing him out of his natural position...

The first half performance against Yeovil was, frankly, terrible! What has Houllier spent money on? Second rate French players who don't know the importance of wearing a Red Shirt. We must be bad when we bring on Heskey, and he looks like our best player! Enough is enough! Get Martin O'Neill before Man. Utd. laugh themselves into a coma at our crapness!

Well done lads.

Heskey is well short of "top class", he stuggles to score 10 league goals a season and all too often contributes little. manu may get away with having Forlan in their championship winning squad but I can't see us winning the title while Heskey is at Anfield

We will see how good he is against a proper team in the next round.Goals against yeovil prove nothing except maybe heskey would be happier in the third division.

I'm with Bring Dalglish Back on this one - I reckon Heskey is top class and will be awesome once he's reunited with MoN and will provide the 20+ goals a season he did a couple of years back to compliment Mickey O (or whomever replaces him.... :( )

Did you see the pre-season belter Heskey scored against Cologne was it? He has still only scored 4 league goals this season in 17 appearances, not the kind of return you would hope for or expect. Kewell might be a better choice up front, though it seems a shame not to use him on the left
