Emlyn Hughes, a great Liverpool captain and a player who will always be remembered as our first European Cup winning cpatain. In my opinion, Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson are better central defenders, but he may be the best left back we had (he played in various defensive positions) and Graeme Souness was perhaps the best captain ever but Crazy Horse was also very inspirational and a great motivator.

Rest in peace.

Hansen n Lawro were great players but while i never saw Emlyn play personally he was one of the greats. Jocky n Lawro would admit that while they get most of the plaudits whey weren't able to hold a candle to Crazy Horse :)

Emlyn was a credit to the game. What Rooney did on Wednesday will never be forgotten on Merseyside I hope, even by Evertonians. One day maybe, he'll grow up and understand what a player and a person such as Emlyn Hughes did for football. Not once do I recall Emlyn lookin less than enthusiastic, always motivatin, always got a fist in the air, "come on" regularly being shouted to some player alongside him. Yes, he maybe never was the greatest player to pull on the shirt, be it for us or for England, but you'd be hard pushed to find a more deserving player. God rest his soul, he never deserved to die so young....the world is by far a poorer place for his passing.
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

I met Emlyn at a pro-am golf event many years ago & he had time for everyone there, signing autographs for all the kids etc dispite pleas from officals at the tourament to make the tee off time. The guy was 100% genuine.
