Baros and cisse out, owen and heskey gone - What now? romario?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Benitez and the reds will have serious problems in the upcoming weeks. How can we possibly defeat Monaco and Boro without a solid hitman up front? Kewell is not the solution and Mellor is not ready yet. Pongolle has not been setting the world on fire when given the chance. So now we have to rely even more on goals from midfield and on set pieces. As far as my footballing knowledge goes, Romario is out of contract and maybe we should try to sign him on a week to week basis until the others return? I know he is old, I know he is not a team player, but at least he is available NOW and without hamstring injuries and with no broken legs. It is a crisis at anfield, and we need to take desperate measures...

Romario ? No.

When we had both Baros and Cisse they didn't score as much as our midfield. We are not a one man squad so surely Benitez is prepared for this kind of thing. What I don't understand is why Baros played for Czech Republic because he wasn't full recovered.

I dont care who it is, I dont care if its Aldo, or Rushie or Pele or Maradonna or anyone, I just want to see someone with a record up front!  For pity's sake, I have to wonder why, if it is indeed the case, Rafa wouldnt have made sure all the loan contracts had recall clauses in them

well here's the post anyway. save yourselves some clicking...

------------

so milan tore his thigh muscle last night and he'll be out for about 6 weeks. bad bad bad bad bad news.

so what do we do? we have 2 strikers left - mellor and sinama.

do we rely on them? use one up front and use kewell or garcia as a supporting striker or 'in the hole'? panic and get into the loan business quickly (people are already mentioning heskey - jeeeeesus!!)?

my views:

mellor has been playing well in reserves and scoring goals recently and so has plenty of confidence, which is what every striker needs. sinama, i think, looks lively whenever he comes on as sub and needs games and a couple of good chances. i'm sure he can shine.

i think we need to show some faith in these guys now. bringing them on now, with support from the returning stevie g and nunez, could give us 4 top strikers by the time cisse and baros are back.

i would go for sinama up front, kewell just behind, nunez on the left, garcia on the right. kewell and garcia can comfortably switch roles giving defences a real headache. with stevie g and alonso (magnificent last night by all accounts) behind all that i think we can beat many teams.

we're gonna beat middlesboro at the weekend with these guys.

Liverpool's Czech Republic striker Milan Baros suffered a suspected torn thigh muscle playing for his country in a World Cup qualifier against Macedonia last night and may be out for six weeks.
