Awful news, the word legend gets thrown around a lot these days but Tommy really was.

RIP "The Anfield Iron" one of my favourite ever players.

Once heard a story that before a match he gave a hospital dinner menu to an opposing forward,   :laugh:

What a fella !

Sadly missed  :(

Not just any forward, he gave the menu to probably the greatest centre forward to ever grace the English game - Jimmy Greaves!
Funny enough Anfield was one ground Jimmy never scored at. I wonder why!  :p

Tommy Smith played before my time, but I recall he was pretty famous for his sliding tackles, two or three in particular are always shown on those compilation videos of older games.
