Baros. - Cometh the hour.......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

As far as I am concerned Baros works his bollox off, causes defenders nightmares and more importantly scores goals which for me is all that matters as a striker.

Every player in the world has weaknesses but like you said Baros with only 50 odd starts for the club has alot of potential but yet he is still not good enough for you

Agree. No striker is a complete package and able to do all things well. For Baros, there are obvious weakness in his game but he make up for it with all-action game and high work-rate. He runs at people and if he do that frequently, we are gonna get our fair shares of penalties. His weakness will be ironed out by Rafa. Give him time...in the meantime, if he keep appearing on the score sheet, who are we to moan about his lacking of this and that.

Controversy warning: At least Boros is playing his heart out unlike Mikey for his last 2 seasons with us. For those of you who watch in the stadium, don't tell me you don't smell the air of anticipation everytime Baros makes a run in the box? If you did, imagine those defenders...

We can dwell on his weaknesses all we like - the bottom line is I'm just f**king glad we've got him at the moment.

And let's not forget - this is the first extended run in the first 11 he's had since he came here. Whenever he hit any kind of form last season after coming back from injury, Houllier inexplicably dropped him. He's got a lot to learn, but he's also got a hell of a lot to give.

Rash prediction: he'll get 25 goals this year.

Also, off topic slightly - when you look at players like Baros, Kirkland, Garcia, Riise, Traore, Finnan and Alonso, all players that are steadily improving different aspects of their game for us, I can't help but think we're going to be in seriously rude health a couple of seasons down the line. The potential they've all shown this season has been mouthwatering.

Not sure about Lampard being only "top quality" and below Scholes. He's world class playing for Chelsea, scoring goals for fun and had a very consistant performance this season.

Noticed that Baros is really enjoying his game from the way he played. There are worrying signs however that he may get injured again while playing his heart out.

I admit I had him written off as a goldmine that we had failed to sell after euro 2004, but with all the money we would have had wouldn't be enough to compensate how important he is at the moment.  He's roved me wrong. Now let's see Josemi and Nunez do the same
