hey guys dont compare Baros with Owen!! Owen is still at very least 1 level above Baros...but Baros is on the way there imo...maybe 20plus goals for him this season?highly likely

You wonder what i have to say?

I'll say the same as always. I love Baros, his enthusiasm, pace and skill are superb. His finishing is often very good and while he doesn't always make the intelligent run he always offers an outlet of some sort. He also holds the ball well and fights for every ball. He's strong and gives it his all and would be a GREAT thrid choice striker but he's not good enough for me.

He isn't a good enough goal poacher, he plays with his head down and his link up play is of a division 2 players standard, he often either doesn't pass the ball or plays the ball backwards. He is also to selfish at times (started to improve this area of his game though) which is showing in the fact he's passing backwards (its a start). He rarely plays a GOOD pass and seems to run the ball out of play far to often. He also has rushes of blood where he'll do something fantastic (chase the ball down) then something ****** (instead of laying it off to start again, he'll run at the opposition without support).

At the moment he's unquestionabley first choice and he is doin well, of that i have no arguement. But i'm a realist and the fact of the matter is he's absoloutely MILES off the standard of Henry, RvN, Owen, Schevchenko, Ronaldo, Raul and a list of other players.

Like i said, theres still probably 10 or more better strikers in the premier league alone than him.

Yeah, he's becoming less selfish which in time whill improve his game intelligence.

His touch has also improved and his ability to hold the ball up.

He still seriously lacks intelligence, awareness and the ability to play a 1-2 though.

Prime example, the goal Rooney scored in the championships where he played the 1-2 with Owen, Baros wouldn't have passed the ball to Owen for that 1-2, Baros also wouldn't have played the ball back to Rooney for that 1-2. Another one was Murphy's against Newcastle a few years ago where he played the 1-2 with Fowler just before we sold him.

Its something he REALLY has to work on. When i start seeing intelligence and awareness then i'll say he's a quality player.

I've said before i put players into catorgarys:

Elite: (Zidane, Ronaldo)
World class: (Owen, Henry, Vieira, Ferdinand, Cannavaro, Robben)
Top class: (Scholes, Gerrard, Alonso, Reyes, Campbell, Fowler off old)
Top quality: (Lampard, Ashley Cole, Hyypia, Defoe)
Quality players: (Lljungberg, Gilberto, Hamann, Riise, Keane)
Good players: (Murphy, Baros, Carragher, Neville, Beattie)
Premiership players: (Savage, Redknapp, Josemi)

and so on...

For me Baros is a GOOD player, if he could get into the QUALITY player in a year or two then i'd say he's definately first team matrial but i i would still say other players are at the higher end of the catorgary. IE Carragher near the top and Baros near the bottom. Carragher probably would move upto quality (same with Neville) love the club and local lad etc so they would get points beyond there abilities as its something they show on the pitch. IE at international level Carragher would be "Good" at club level a lower quality player (if u understand my point).

Baros has the potential to become top quality. But he needs to massively improve on the things i pointed out.

I agree that he isn't of the quality of Hnery or RVN, but I think that many areas of his game can be worked on, now he playing in the sidem it is the perfect opportunity for Rafa to work with him and improve him.

I know why Stu says he can be a good 3rd choice but not a first teamer. The problem with Baros is that he isn't very good playing with a strike partner, he is selfish and his link up and build up play is poor, but I think this can be remedied on the training pitch, and if we can find the right strike partner for him then he would coulld offer even more and become a first teamer.

for me he just needs to start pulling the trigger a bit quicker. he gets in so many good positions with the ball and tries to do a bit too much fancy stuff.

The Sunday Times criticised Baros for going down too easily, for the first pen, the pen not given and the mid-field foul, that lead to the goal.
I didn't see it that way from TV replays, all looked like clumsy challenges to me.

Ian Dowie knows that his defenders were stupid to bring down Baros twice in the box, he can't admit that therefore he states that Baros goes down easily.

dunno if you just left him out or wateva, but Ronaldinho would also be in the Elite.

Baros is slowly starting to link up with his team-mates. [i.e. Garcia]. He passed the ball to Garcia quite a few times in the box or near the box. Those are signs of slow improvement. He is improving in every game and thats good to see, all that matters is that he gets the job done on the pitch like he did yesterday.

You have obviously never watched the Czech's play where Baros plays off a target man i.e.Koller and has an amazing scoring record.

At the moment he is having to do it all on his own up front and yet where would we be without him

Hey stu did you not see his goal poachers goal yesterday

He also played a great little ball to Riise who crossed to Garcia who should have made it 3-1 just before half time.

As far as I am concerned Baros works his bollox off, causes defenders nightmares and more importantly scores goals which for me is all that matters as a striker.

Every player in the world has weaknesses but like you said Baros with only 50 odd starts for the club has alot of potential but yet he is still not good enough for you
