the awards lists no longer have any credibility, usually the player who wins it deserves it though.

The awards have been a joke for some time now

Scholes but no gerrrard?
Owen but no Jay Jay Okocha?
What did rooney and Baros do that was sooooo great, had a decent Euro? One tournament does not a season make.

The list is ridiculous, Beckham had a gallah of a season didnt he? yet he's in it.
Gerrard has a bonza of a season yet misses out, the same goes for jay jay okocha. Maybe I missed him but I dont see Iker Cassilas either

some people seem to be closet Scum fans in here !
I can't believe people are suggesting Scholes should be on the list - my understanding is that it should be based on Annual performance (ie each season)
Paul Scholes by his own admission has been sh**e for a couple of yrs now
Hence his decision to quit the national side - to try and focus on his club football
He's not half the player he was
Used to be world class

beckham and shcoles both have been very poor last year and dont deserve to be on the list, im suprised as the european player of the year award is usually more creditable than the fifa world player of the year award, but it seems it has lost all credability too

southern scouser i agree.

there's no doubt of Paul Scoles' "attributes" of which Stu loves bangin on about. the fact is last year he didnt come close at all to what hes capable of.

Beckham. nobody can ever ever ever ever tell me that his status as a footballer has not risen due to his status as a celebrity. i'm not stupidly biased where i'll slag anything off that is Man U. you just make a fool of yourself when you do this and keep a serious opinion. but Beckham should never be England Captain, should never have been nominated for European/Worls player of the year. there are dozens better than him in Europe and the World. if they went and married some soft @rse who's on the cover of all the rags in Britain and the states, they would also be analysed and have more notice taken of them. we've been told for a long time to constantly look at Beckham. as a result, we do see a good player, we see someone bangin in free kicks etc and come up with the conclusion that he's "world class." if the focus was taken off him and put on someone like Paul Schiles (incidentally) it would be him who woul be captaining England, and being in the top 3 in Europe etc etc.

without wanting to argue with people, i cant understand how they done see how much they've been tricked into believing Beckham is as good as he is. obviously there's no smoke without fire, and to have a reputation like that you must have something indeed more than just "something", but the reputation just doesnt match the ability.

Iv'e been wanting to slag Beckham for years, but never really had enough interest !
But damn right what a dipstick to have as Captain of England !
When asked a question on telly by Garth Crooks (another twonk) about whether as Team Captain did he help Sven with advice about the England players.
The answer was: ''Nah I just lead the team out Garfff ''
What a lame brain, indeed that even implies he has a brain to be lame.
And as for his wife, I hope she likes his tatoo's, which just about sums up her IQ level.
He should never have Captained England. Pass it on to Stevie G.

why no zambrotta no matter how good he done for juve last season and the start off this season.totti is there on merit yes he done bad recentley but doesn't everybody elbowing someone in euro spitting stamping i can go on and on but he did help roma to second in serie A. scoring 30 goals turned down offers from big european clubs to stay at his beloved clubs and not turned his back on the supporters and have dobuts about the club and where there goin. loyalty eh tomas rosicky is there on merit two helping debt ridden broussia dortmund to finish midtable great player could of bein here but houiller wanted murphy

him and big jon koller could of left to join big clubs they both could of bein here juv,real madrid etc but they stayed which takes courage and thats one of the reason tomas rosicky my favourite player
