Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby C-R » Fri Feb 19, 2016 10:28 am

Augsburg v Liverpool - Europa League - Thursday 18th February

Mignolet - 6 - one decent save, one flap where he lost the ball
Clyne - 5 - average
Toure - 8 - thought he was excellent, my man of the match
Sakho - 7 - looked ok, made some good interceptions
Moreno - 6 - slightly better than Clyne, slightly unlucky not to have scored
Henderson - 4 - getting worse by the game
Can - 5 - slightly better than Hendo
Milner - 5 - slightly better than Hendo
Coutinho - 7 - looked decent on the ball, finding his way back after injury, not convinced out on the left is the best place for him
Firmino - 5 - very average
Sturridge - 5 - looked ok, also looked slightly uninterested at times, could have scored in the 6 yard box if a little luckier

Substitutes...

Ibe - 4 - headless chicken springs to mind, as soon as he gets closer to the by line you know he will run it out of play, getting more frequent now
Origi - 5 - did ok, bit more luck could have nicked one

MINGOLET - 6 played well
CLYNE - 5.5 a bit sideways and backwards in possession I thought
TOURE - 7 played really well
SAKHO - 6 ended up our de facto playmaker as Hendo et al kept passing it backwards
MORENO - 7.5 his best game in ages
HENDERSON - 5 runs around a lot but no craft to his game, does a lot of pointing and arguing with the ref but his passing is all sideways and backwards
CAN - 5.5 still dwells on the ball a bit too long for my liking
MILNER - 5 like Hendo an honest grafter but no real quality about him
COUTINHO - 7 looked lively, pity the midfield couldn't give him more of a platform to perform from
FIRMINO - 6.5 same as Coutinho
STURRIDGE - 6 looked slightly subdued last night but still nearly scored, it's just great to have him back though

Mignolet - 6 - Not really threatend, did ok
Clyne - 5- Not lacking in application, but still has much more to offer, but sometimes wonder if he and the players around him are on the same page.
Toure - 7 - Solid performance, not sure how much more he's got left in him, this season is probably his Swan Song.
Sakho - 6 - Did well, despite his "ungainly" style looked more composed than many others.
Moreno - 6 - Did ok, defensively suspect, his pace often rescues him from situations he shouldn't be in to start with
Henderson - 4 - Our Captain ? really ? Could stick virtually anyone from the squad in his role and achieve the same if not better performance
Can - 5 - Early promise from this fella is fading into a false dawn ? some very poor decision making of late, trying to hard to do too much ?
Milner - 7 - Not great but still one of our best performers. His experience shone through,
Coutinho - 6 - Decent performance but the real "spark" he's capable of  didn't seem to be there.
Firmino - 5 - Can't remember anything he did that deserves further comment.
Sturridge - 5 - Ring Rusty ? Maybe ? But expected more from him, if only to have a bit more of a smile on his face, looks like he's not enjoying even playing right now .   :p
Substitutes...

Ibe - 2 -  Two seasons ago he was a bright light for the future, since then this fella has been moon walking towards the door marked "Not Good Enough" !  Somebody training him has to have a serious word.
Origi - 5 - I see potential there, not disappointed to see him brought on before the "Sugar Lump"  Benteke.

Mignolet - 5 - was ok, but made a real mess out of that cross... as usual
Clyne - 5 - man, his technique and first touch is poor and non existent in the air
Toure - 7 - did well
Sakho - 6 - luckily not tested much
Moreno - 6 - looks good as long as there is less defending to do
Henderson - 4 - no getting into gear, which is his only strength. Our captain....
Can - 5 - has some skill, but can't handle his own speed at times
Milner - 6 - Ok I guess. typical Milner, you what you get.
Coutinho - 6 - did ok, as long as he doesn't try to do everything himself
Firmino - 5 - not good enough. Wasteful with the ball
Sturridge - 4 - Looked like he didn't even want to be on the pitch. Not liking his body language one bit

Substitutes...

Ibe - 4 - well, maybe someday he will make a right decision
Origi - 5 - did better than Sturridge... which wasn't hard

Liverpool V Man City - Capital One Cup Final Sun 28th

Mignolet - 8 - at fault for their open play goal, but did save us with a few
Clyne - 6 - played well
Lucas - 9.5 - would have been a 10 but for the missed penalty, superb performance
Sakho - 6 - hope he will be ok
Moreno - 5 - liability
Can - 8.5 - best game in a while
Henderson - 6.5 - not great but not terrible, does need replacing, not captain material, where was he when Lallana was being man handled ?
Milner - 9 - best performance in an LFC shirt, was excellent
Firmino - 5 - poor
Coutinho - 6 - only for his goal, apart from that he was not himself
Sturridge - 4 - complete passenger and then to be crying walking up the steps when he contributed so fkn little on that pitch

Subs:
Toure - 8 - did really well when he came on
Lallana - 6.5 - the passion was certainly there and the fire in his belly but not much else
Origi - 6.5 - did perfectly fine when he came on, in fact could have nicked a winner

Very disappointed here, but penalties are a lottery and it is what it is, let's only hope we can do the scum over the 2 legs to make up for this

MINGOLET - 7 a howler and some wonder saves.....far too erratic to be the keeper of a top side
CLYNE - 7 thought he dealt with Sterling pretty well
LUCAS - 8.5 magnificent
SAKHO - 7 was playing well until the nasty clash of heads, I liked the way he had to be dragged off even though he was seeing stars, plenty of bottle this lad.
MORENO - 7 surprised he was subbed, okay he nearly gave away a pen but his recovery pace saved our @rse more than once in that frantic period just after they scored.
HENDO - 6 plenty of effort but far too much sideways and backwards passing for my liking
CAN - 6.5 battled hard
MILNER - 7 lacks finesse but he did put a shift in
FIRMINO - 7.5 looked really lively I thought, no help from midfield though
COUTINHO - 7.5 at the heart of everything we did, including the goal
STURRIDGE - 7 played well, just ran out of steam (which is understandable)

Milner - 8 - Very good game
Firmino - 5 - poor

Mignolet - 6 - some outstanding saves that kept us in the game but if it wasn't for his howler maybe he wouldn't have needed to even make those saves
Clyne - 6 - it's always a wasted ball when he tries to go forward
Lucas - 8 - captain like performance, made Aguero almost anonymous. One of the few that treated the game like what it actually was - a cup final
Sakho - 6 - unfortunate to get injured but shouldn't have reacted like that when subbed off
Moreno - 6
Can - 6
Henderson - 4 - waste of space, has been for a while now. Can't believe he's our captain
Milner - 7 - thought he did well
Firmino - 6 - nothing to write home about
Coutinho - 7 - was at the right place at the right time, not much else though
Sturridge - 5 - expected more from him. Kudos to him lasting the full 120 and not getting injured though

Subs:
Toure - 7 - did well
Lallana - 5
Origi - 6

Mignolet - 7 - As always, mixes it up with good saves and poor plays. Still can't handle crosses
Clyne - 6.5 - was better than normal as he didn't go forward all the time
Lucas - 8 - best performance of the season for him. Says also how poor our other cbs are... Might as well play Lucas as cb.
Sakho - 5 - not good enough. Stupid decision going for the ball. Poor at reading the play.
Moreno - 5 - isn't really a defender
Can - 8 - had a strong game
Henderson - 6 - just seem weak and doesn't influence the game as a captain should
Milner - 8.5 - was very motivated playing in a final vs his old club.
Firmino - 5 - didn't really get into the game
Coutinho - 6 - did score he all important goal, but was so so for the rest of the game
Sturridge - 4 - getting tired of his body language since he has come back. Lazy and non interested and still people look to him as some messias :(

Subs:
Toure - 7.5 - solid and really better than Sakho
Lallana - 6.5 - well, he does what he always do. maybe not good enough
Origi - 6.5 - did perfectly fine when he came on, in fact could have nicked a winner

MINGOLET - 6 nothing to do
FLANAGAN - 7 decent game but his lack of pace is a concern for me
TOURE - 7.5 his aimless long balls up the field were pretty frustrating but his defending was superb
LOVREN - 7 steady
CLYNE - 7 good game but clearly not as comfortable going forward on the left.
CAN - 8 his best game for ages, his pressing was brilliant
HENDERSON - 7 I've criticised him lately but he ran his @rse off and played well to be fair
MILNER - 7.5 he had a fine game (topped off with a goal)
LALLANA - 9 his best game in a red shirt by a mile, he's always had ability but he's always looked lightweight with it, last night though he played with an aggressive, in your face attitude and looked a completely different player because of it. It's not often I give out a 9 but considering his performance (and the standard of opposition) he deserves it.
FIRMINO - 7.5 this fella is turning into a serious player, he's constantly on the move linking up play and is now starting to regularly chip in with assists and goals. The better the opposition the better he seems to play as well which is a real sign of quality.
ORIGI - 7 led the line really well, quick, strong, skilful and prepared to run all day. He's only 20 as well so he's going to improve a hell of a lot over the next 3/4 years.

MINGOLET - 6 Unemployed
FLANAGAN - 7 Lost the ball too much for my taste but recovered quickly ,really intelligent player.
TOURE - 8 Dealt well with any potential risk
LOVREN - 7 Good Game
CLYNE - 7 Solid defensively but very quite on attacking
CAN - 8 Very good and disciplined game ,didn't try his blind alley runs
HENDERSON - 5 Works hard but so are the rest of us ,no quality no value.
MILNER - 8 Great game ,Strong resilient no fear ,should be the captain.
LALLANA - 9 Great game playing center field suits him much better.
FIRMINO - 7 Much more active and decisive
ORIGI - 7 He is felt ,no matter if he scores or not at least he is active.
