Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He's nowhere near good enough to play the central role.. He looks like a headless chicken just running for the ball all game. His passing today was dire, just simple 10 yard passes he was messing up. I like many feel he's "undropable" now he's got the armband, and he's just not captain material... He's a water carrier.

Needs to be played wide in a 4-4-2.

He's actually a good little RM, but Brendan has promised him a central role.  :(

I dont think I have ever disliked a player as much as I do Milner. Completely fcking useless as a CM. No game intelligence whatsoever and another one who is being played out of position and struggling to adapt.

According to Stuart Pearce, Milner was the transfer of the summer. Well I quite like Stuart but I am afraid to say that he is way off the mark with that assessment. I fully understand that he was talking value for money but even take that into account he is desperately wrong. Milner failed at City for a very simple reason - HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH !! This is not going to be a Gary Mac success story. Milner is an honest work hard professional that won't cause any problems but nothing else.

Milner didn't fail at City. Most fans were sad to see him go as he was a valuable first team player.

He's just not a central midfielder and had his best City games out on the right wing.

Milner is exactly like Rodgers....He gets a "pass" from the press and other managers because he is british (English)......

We should never have bought him. He just upsets the balance of the team. Rodgers tried to get rid of lucas because he thought hendo and milner can be the double pivot (man...I hate that word...along with all the other cringe worthy words by brent).

And if Rodgers stays as a manager you can be pretty much mortgage your house in milner starting every match as a CM. He won't be subbed off no matter what (He basically gets the gerrard treatment because he is the Asst Captain)......

Rodgers has over-promised a lot of $hit to milner at the expense of our club (1st choice central midfielder, Assistant Captain, Number 7 jersey...etc). This is gonna cause lots of unhappiness among the players who have stayed here much longer than milner. How about this fact ? Coutinho earns about half as much as what milner is earning now....

As a CM he offers less than Poulsen ,and that's quite a statement ,even for me .

Whats worse is that Milner will still be earning that when he is 34  I know he was technically on a free but he was bound to have collected a nice signing on fee as well.

I'm not sure what's the hate on Milner. He has been one of our consistent performers thus far. To me, he is the victim of the manager's shortcomings in terms of how the manager set the team up to play. If there are this many criticism on Milner, there should be more on Can. He has been extremely predictable. Milner has been the steadier of all the midfield players thus far.

You are right in saying he has been our most consistent midfielder but consistent at being average every single game. He's a better player and has more of an impact from the bench like when he was at city so rodgers was a fool to give him the assurances he did. If anything is predictable then it has been Milners performances.
I also agree about can who has also put in some mundane performances but in fairness he is only 21 and still learning so I think its unfair to expect him to be better than a seasoned pro with a lifetime in this league.

Milner has character. Lots and lots of character. He's honest too. And he's an outstanding technician. Like so many of our players. I'm being sarcastic of course. The only thing I remember about Milner is his name. I honestly can't seem to remember ever seeing him play or anything. Even Hendo has more character. Those two are the most mundane players I can think of, ever, and between them they earn a quarter of a million pounds a week to be our CM pairing. How on earth did it come to this? I blinked and missed something.

You can't have all flair players in your team. We need solid players in the middle. I was sceptical about him playing in CM. But In the games we scored points, Milner has been solid. He was the one pushing forward and getting back. You could look at the rating thread, I think he scored consistently high. If the team is not playing well and once Milner has to do more than he should be ( like covering for Can) it could look bad for him, because he's being stretched to no fault of his own. IMO the culprits for our performances so far has been Skrtle, Lovren, Gomez, Can, Ibe and in some games Firmino. Benteke and Clyne has been our best performers, followed by Coutinho and Milner.
