Anelka - Back to anfield?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This article is on LFC official website from Mediawatch - what are everyones views on this possibility.

"Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is looking at the possibility of taking Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka back to Anfield.

Benitez has drawn up a short list of forwards after losing Djibril Cisse for the season and is interested in former Kop favourite Anelka.

Liverpool took the Frenchman on loan from Paris St Germain three seasons ago, but Gerard Houllier refused to take up the option of a £12 million permanent deal and instead signed El-Hadji Diouf.

Anelka has been a success at City hitting 44 goals in 95 appearances and has scored six so far this season. The player would almost certainly relish a move back to Anfield. "

I'd have him back I reckon. If ever there was a bloke who is currently playing to about half his potential its Anelka. Don't even get me started on the decision to sign Diouf over him. Staggering.

Also it appears that Diouf may be charged by the FA for spitting (again), think that properly makes peoples minds up over any chance of him coming back.

Back to Anelka, think he would be a good signing, though whether Man CIty would sell or not remains to be seen.

Anelka would deffo get the nod from me.  The guy is class, when his head is switched on.  He has a point to prove with Liverpool,  my only concern would be his legendry sulks.. less of thrm please Nik!!!!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

If he's good enough for Rafa, he's good enough for me.

In his time at Anfield I was dissapointed at the amount of times he got caught offside, I remember him playing against villa on boxing day and he got flagged about 10 times, he was offside loads of time against the scum yesterday as well ???

I think thats another ****** story.

He would probarly cost around the 10MIL mark, we've been there and though he done O.K, I don't think we should go back.

Anelka would not cost much as he is out of contract at the end of the season!
Man City have already said that they do not want to renew his contract!
A cheap possibility yes but is the player we want up front he is another Cisse or Pongolle!
Do we want a different type of forward??
