Given the techical ability of many of our players and the style of football we now play I think a poor surface actually works against us and instead works in favour of those players with inferior ability that visit us.

Or are they not as technical as we think  :)

Ah, I remember the days. Twisted my ankle more than once, running around on a sodden field. When I was a kid there was no such excuses. Both teams played on the same pitch. Didn't matter if you kicked uphill in the first half. You'd have the advantage of going downhill in the second. If you were in goal you needed swimming trunks and a snorkel as part of your kit. And I'm only 38! What a soft world we live in now :(

what a surprise that everyone is totally losing all sense of perspective because it provides another chance to get the knives out for a favourite target. johnson isn't crying about not wanting to play on it, he isn't threatening to go on strike if its not fixed, he isn't saying that its unplayable or that he needs a pay rise to cope with it. he's making a simple statement that a rough surface is not conducive to the crisp passing game that the manager is trying to get them to play.

we've all played on crappy surfaces for free, but i don't think our dribbling or quick accurate passing were much cop either.

Johnson isn't the first to complain about this, I remember reading about the horrible state of the pitch a few moths ago. It shouldn't be an excuse though.

Anyway, it would be really bad if we don't get it fixed for next season. According to that article, it's probably not going to happen during the summer. I don't know a lot about these things, but can't it be implemented during, for example, an international break? How long does it take to do this thing anyway?
