Liverpool Football Club - Games

Well we have scraped through to the quarters like most Premiership teams do fielding weaker teams.

Now we are at a stage where I think we should genuinely try and win the trophy and not take any chances with selection.

Still be really hard to win this cup with Man City and Chelsea involved but I would like us to take it seriously and be nice to see
us win something with Rodgers, even if it is the lowest ranked trophy.

I thought we looked much more like our old selves there yesterday, although we didn't create swathes of clear cut chances we did knock the ball about and clearly looked the better side IMO.
Manquillo had a good game considering he was up against a tricky opponent in Montero and I thought the midfield played well too, Coutinho in particular stood out.
As I say it wasn't a vintage performance by any means but in terms of style that was the closest we've come this season to replicating last seasons form.
Nice to see Balotelli scoring (hopefully that will help his confidence a bit) and nice to see us not throwing the towel in even though we were one nil down with only ten minutes to go, when you've been on the type of run we've been on it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking everything (especially losing) is inevitable.
Congrats to the players, that was much more like it.
