Hi all, myself and my wife only manage to get up to Anfield maybe twice a season, usually it will be one of the early rounds of the League Cup or if we are very lucky a category b EPL match

I should also add that we have both been on the season ticket waiting list for over 10 years and i have a fan card

Is there any advice anyone can offer on how we could possibly get a pair of tickets (together) for a couple of matches without having to pay the large prices associated with hospitality packages ?

More than happy with early League Cup or cat b games but can't afford the package deals the club offers, i assume we would only be eligible for tickets that go on 'gerneral sale' but how will i know when they do? Is it just a case of checking back on the official site?

Any positive advice appreciated

The general sale is probably your best bet mate, you could get one of those memberships for £30 to take part in the members sale but if you are only going to a league cup game it's not worth it, you'll more than likely get a ticket in the GS anyway.
As for when the when the general sale happens it depends on the game and the demand for tickets, as a rule of thumb though start checking the official site about 3 weeks out from the game.

The general sale is probably your best bet mate, you could get one of those memberships for £30 to take part in the members sale but if you are only going to a league cup game it's not worth it, you'll more than likely get a ticket in the GS anyway.

Thanks for the reply mate, i will follow your advice

i do get my tickets through the local lfc supporters branch, they organise trips over a couple of times a year that we can go on or you can ask for a match of your choice. you might not always get what you want but this is the easiest way ive found getting tickets.
you can always try joining a supporters club if there is one is your area or as yakka said keep checking the website to see when the general sale is for the match you want. just have a few people ringing at the same time till someone gets through. i also had success before using that method.

I never thought of looking for a local supporters club, that may well be the way to go, as we could potentially get travel sorted as well then through the club, i will defo look into this and perhaps post back when i know something more

ive gone on a few trips with my own club but generally they work out a  little dearer than if you booked yourself. the ticket is always face value but depending on where you stay usually bumps it up.
the last time i went was to the city game a few years ago when carroll scored a brace and it only cost me €180 all in. flight, ticket and a nights stay in a premier inn 
joining the club has its advantages though as they usually have functions with ex players present and its a good bit of craic.

Your quite right about the advantages, i have already looked into it, there are 3 official ones that are not too far from me, so will contact them over the weekend and see whats best

yeah read that alright. the differences is staggering compared to the continent. i knew individual match ticket prices where less but wow!
based on that i would also bet they aren't paying £2.50 for a cuppa either

£2.50 for a bit of hot water and a tea bag 
I don't know what it's like over there mate but over here we are always paying over the odds for stuff, wether it's trainies, cars, petrol, houses or whatever everything seems to be more expensive here than anywhere else so I guess in a way we are used to getting fleeced, those ticket prices though take it to a whole new level, thats just taking the pi$$.

I wouldn't take the pi$$, that's 5 quid
