Igor - Cant believe i'm asking but.....

If Igor puts in a couple more performances like that, would you offer him a new contract in the summer? Obviously there's no fee involved, just wages. As a squad man, is he worth keeping? (obviously, one swallow doesn't make a bellyfull so I'm assuming he carries on like last night.)

If he continues to play like last night, yes.

A decent back up for Gerrard and Alonso.  Could also play on the right side of midfield I would imagine.

I think we are already crowded in the central midfield department. It looks as though Hamann is going to sign a new contract. And we already have Gerrard and Alonso who play in the same role as Biscan.

Also two of our most promising youngsters, Potter and Welsh, play in central midfield, so if they are to have chances we need to declutter.

So unless Gerrard leaves I would say let him leave. If Gerrard leave we could keep him as back up too Alonso.

i think we should definitely offer him a new contract. i always had a feeling he just needed to show what he could do at centre mid. thats also why i disagree with the right mid thing, thats where houllier played him and contributed to his downfall, he was never effective there. he's a centre mid through and through.

I would say yes, of course.

Interestingly enough, at the time we had to fight off competition from the likes of Juventus, Barcelona, Ajax and AC Milan to secure his signature!! Unbelievable I know. He was captain of his club side at the age of 20 and a regular international for Croatia, so I think all joking aside the guy always had potential.

He played well at the beginning of his career with us, and then I think if I am not mistaken he was sent off against Everton, and it was downhill from then, as Houllier seem to 'train' any ability/potential the guy had out of him.

hopefully with the guidance of Raffa, he can play to the potential I think he obviously had when we signed him.

Heres hoping!!

I also agree that Biscan's best position is in central midfield playing alongside an anchor man like Hamann, so that he can serge foward as well as getting tackles in.

But I woulden't give him a new contract if we still have Gerrard and Alonso.

I'd say yes, Biscan has got a good attitude and always gives 100%.

Plus he makes me laugh with his sort of confused/half asleep look. :D

Not much point in giving Hamann and Biscan new contracts as they both will only decent back up players. ???

football is not about a team!!!!!!

its about the squad!!!!!

what are you gonna do when Alonso and Gerrard are injured again!!!!!   we cant be playing the young players away from home in Europe.

if we sell we have no players!!!   unless you want a midfield of Diao and a recalled Diouf.

We have Potter and Welsh to play in the centre who have alot of potential and deserve a chance instead of having Hamann and Biscan who will never be good enough ahead of them and relying on the 2 of them getting injured.

I said not to give BOTH of them new contracts as it will give the young lads little hope or ever getting a game.

I don’t agree that we should give Igor a new contract, even if he does come good, because I think his best is not gonna be good enough for were we want to go.

To compete with Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U in the prem we have got to buy quality, and I honestly don’t think his best is gonna be good enough.

I do feel sorry for Igor because I thing he has had the confidence knocked out of him, but hopefully if he plays a few more games, like he did yesterday we could get a decent fee for him, and he might find a new club for himself were he can start all over again.

We need to buy a midfielder with a bit of flare for example like Ronaldinho
