I think the defence is distinctly average to be honest and one of the main reasons is Mignolet.
Good players breed confidence from good players and with Reina and Hyypia at the back (at their peak) I'm sure our defence, which is without a shadow of a doubt our weakest area, would drastically improve. Also Babbel was an excellent full back who offered strength, energy and arial threat, the lad was one of the best full backs I've seen in a red shirt and think the illness he suffered was massively unlucky.
