4 Players, who?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Just out of curiousity and for nothing other than pointless debate with if's but's and maybe's... :D

If you could pick four players from our past (assuming they're still in there peak, obviously most probably won't be) that have played for us from the start of the premier league, to make us into league winners now, who would they be and why? (If any of the old ***** on here like RED LUCASGOGGLES, Yakka or Devaney want to go further back than that you may do)... but do a premiership one as well...

Mine would be Reina, Hyypia, Babbel and Alonso.

So my team would look like.

GK: Reina

RB: Babbel
CB: Sahko
CB: Hyypia
LB: Enrique

CM: Alonso
CM: Gerrard
CM: Coutinho

LW: Suarez
RW: Sterling
CF: Sturridge

Subs:

GK: Mignolet
FB: Flannagan
CB: Agger
CM: Henderson
CM: Allen
SW: Ibe
CF: Aspas/Borini

I'd like to think that Sami and Babbel would have massively improved two or our weakest positions, while also having the quality to play in the system, as would Xabi, Pepe speaks for himself.

Curious as to what others think! :)

Ah fun :D

I'd go with Sami, Fowler, Alonso, and Titi Camara.... For some comic relief. Or mebbe Razor Ruddock at this peak.

Good question, I'd go -

                                                   Mingolet

                Flannagan.           HANSEN.       Sakho       Cissokho

                               GERRARD (2007).        SOUNESS

                                                   Coutinho

                                Suarez.         Sturridge.      BARNES

Any side with a prime Hansen, Gerrard, Souness, Barnes and Suarez would walk the CL never mind the title.

The old school: Lawrenson Lawler Hansen Callaghan - Lawrenson not because he was the best but because his partnership with Hansen was unbelievable

Premiership: sorry to be boring - Hyppia Alonso Carragher Riise - had a lot of time for Riise when he was on it

I love that Yakka has got Cissoko in his team alongside some absolute legends. That's what make this interesting. Carragher for sheer guts and determination would always be in with a shout.

How would you compare Ruddock to Carra, overall? I'm asking anyone

Carragher wrung every last bit of talent out of himself while ruddock did the opposite.

Are you saying he ate too many pies? Elaborate a bit.

Well....yeah, ruddock was robust and had a pretty decent left foot (he could ping a decent long pass) but he often let himself down by not being in the best of shape. He liked a bevy and had a bit of a jack the lad type image.
He struggled a lot with his weight which wouldn't be acceptible these days.

I also say Carra lifted attitude of the team where Razor and all that spice boy (Not matter how overblown it was by the media) rubbish only had a detrimental affect on dressing room
