LFC are a big club, we need to shop in the 'Designer Jewellry' stores of the world.  Gallactico's only please. !!

:D

yes but easier said than done. thats quite naive if you ask me.
we have no money, and not much time. and there's other factors.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

in a swamp in  australia with a packet of mushy peas.

nah i am proud, but there's just no way we can sign a "galactico" at present, as much as i want us too. we just need a stop gap. pre season will be time for all the other lark.

Despite what everyones saying I don't think that the striker position is the main problem. I'd like to see the rest of the team chipping in with more goals.
Kewell is the biggest dissappointment by far and Cisse's contribution hasn't been such as to make a big difference so why panic over the injury (I really do hope that he recovers) but him missing for the rest of the season will not make a difference.
I'd love to see what Raffa could do with Anelka though.

He aint good enough for Liverpool

BUT

He's been slagged off every season since he was a kid but he bangs the goals in. He's only just moved to West Brom and hasnt had a run yet and if his history is anything to go by he will start scoring.  No touch but he is a goal scorer out and out.

Check out Danny Gabbidon from Cardiff

Agreed John, why dont we pack the midfield with 5, Nunez, garcia, Kewell, Gerrard and Alonso, and leave baros on his own up front, I think he would thrive on that selfishness

A lot of people seem to be missing the point here. We were 1 striker short before Cisse's leg went in three different directions. With him out for the season we're now 2 short.

You can laugh off bargain basement solutions like Earnshaw all you like, but without selling players, we simply haven't got the money to fork out £10-15m for a top-class continental solution.

Mista's signed an extension, and there's still no guarantee that Morientes is on the table. And even if he is, we still then need another striker.

Those that are laughing off suggestions like Fowler and Earnshaw being brought in, or Diouf being recalled - being realistic about funds, who do you want to see? Or are you happy with a specialist strike trio of Baros, Mellor and Pongolle?

we should have signed hasselbaink on a 2 year contract in the summer when we had the chance. :(

as for now, i just don't see who's available. i wouldn't be surprised if benitez ended up going back to spain to look for stikers.

hindsight is a wonderful thing.

i agree with you mike, pity no-one said it at the time (unless you did, in which case apologies).

Hasselbaink would have been a super buy.

Anelka scores 1 goal over every 3 games
Not that prolific !

Bit of an Enigma if you ask me!

Hasslebaink 1 every 2

Has anyone got any stats on Earnshaws career? I just remember when he got a hat-trick against Scotland in a World-Cup qualifier. Yes I know its only Scotland, but any hat-trick at International level warrants the scorer being taken seriously. When I've seen him, my read on him is as follows;

Pace: very quick (I don't think anyone would dispute this). Someone posted that lightning quick strikers are ten a penny. Don't think thats fair to be honest.
Build: looks about ten years old which is a disadvantage. However, to coin a cliche has a 'low centre of gravity.'
Talent: Raw at best but does show intelligence with his movement off the ball. Seems to specialise in coming short and then spinning in behind centre-halves. Have seen him score with both feet and with his head.
Attitude: First-class. A real trier who would work his socks off for the team.
Wow-factor: absolutely zero. Funny looking bloke, all the fans of the other teams would laugh at us for signing him.
So there you go. By no means pefect but if he was, he wouldn't be worth 2.5 million. He reminds me a bit of Ian Wright in his Palace days. Quick, raw, aggresive and a goalscorer. Arsenal bought him for next to nothing with little or no competition from anybody. Thats what its all about sometimes, taking a bit of a punt. I know you've all laughed your ar ses off at me, but I'm pleased to see that one or two on here don't think it's as daft as it sounds. Having said that I've been wrong before.  :;):

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet or anything... :p

...but I repeatedly brought Hasselbaink's name up after we sold Heskey. I reckon he's still got at least 2 more good seasons in him after this one.

It's ironic  really - I'd have backed both Cisse and Kezman to have been cracking them in from all angles by this time, and who thought there'd be threads asking legitimate questions about Earnshaw and Johnson's availability?
