Coutinho doesn't play as a defensive or sitting midfielder.

Didn't really answer the point so will frame it so that you can understand

Who does the defensive and sitting work in the middle of the park if you replace Lucas with Coutinho

You don't need a player to sit when you have three centre halves.

So you have Gerrard play next to Coutinho ? ( despite Coutinho not really playing as a CM in his career )

Are you really that thick you can't work it out for yourself or are you trying to derail yet another thread?

We are talking about Lucas ? How is that derailing any thread.

You want him replaced and I'm trying to find out who with and who will do the work he does if he is replaced.

I think its time our fake brazilian was given a rest.

The lad isn't doing anything in that midfield for me at the moment. As soon as we get the ball he stands still. He's offering nothing to the player on the ball and he's not moving from 15 yards infront of the defence. His support play has gone to pot recently.

The lad is still winning tackles and getting stuck in but the lack of quality is really starting to hurt us. Gerrard isn't good enough to carry him anymore and its making our midfield look extremely weak. I'd give Allen a game or two next to Steven just to take the heat off Lucas at the minute. Its not fair to play a player who's struggled for form since the start of the season, West Brom aside I think he's having a absolute night mare.

I've often thought safety gates on stairs didn't do enough to prevent an over imaginative child from exploring a new level ..... I was right.  :D

the lad has been doing that for years, standing still, chasing shadows, wont cross the half way line and support play is non existent. his lack of quality is obvious but it gets worse when he's alongside players like allen and hendo. all are good at one thing and are left wanting on the rest.
for me he has had one great season where everyone else was poor, the lad then got injured and has struggled since but i think he has been the same as he always has, average. one outstanding game every 20 isnt good enough.
we need better quality in there and due to the amount of time he has been here, maybe its time to move him on.

Welcome to Lucas Leiva circa 2007, and it seems the lad has now come full circle, and we're back to him being useless.
Its no surprise its still the usual suspects ,who didn't really crawl( but made a good impression of it ) away tail between
legs, but rather just awaited their chance to ponce sorry I mean pounce when the lad's form has waned slightly
in the last few games.

Really?

He's shown very in his entire Liverpool career to suggest he's capable of being anything other than a squad player. What I find quite laughable is that you make out peoples opinions on the lad have changed so much in that time.

He was never as bad as first made out, he was never as good as some think he is and he'll never be good enough to be a regular in a team wanting to exceed sixth place in the league.

Quite simple really.

To be quite honest, I don't get how you can try to defend a central midfielder who can't beat a man, isn't great in the air, isn't particularly quick,  doesn't read the game particularly well, never passes a ball more than 15 yards, doesn't score goals, hasn't got a great shot, has very average (at best) movement, has a just about ok touch which sometimes lets him down and isn't even that great a tackler (which is supposed to be his game).

The mind boggles!

Speaking from a personal perspective ,I find comedy quite amusing Stu ,but your funny bone seems way too easily tickled
if you find posters opinions on Lucas funny.

Well once again Stu I would have to disagree, as Lucas was our player of the season for 2010/2011 as voted for by the fans ,so
he must have been doing something right to merit those plaudits

Well I believe the contrary ,I believe if you put Lucas on the market most teams in the Premiership would snap your fecking hand off
quicker than you would be willing to rim Michael Owen.
  :D

Yes you most definitely are ,so I suppose that's something we can agree on lad

You're a clown lad ,and I don't do circus's :D

The mind boggles
I think in your case its 'bubbles'.

Just out curiousity... which teams do you believe would snap your hand off?

Chelsea?
Arsenal?
Man Utd?
Man City?
Southampton?
Everton?
Newcastle?
Spurs?

You actually believe Lucas would get into any of those sides?

I don't even think he'd get into Hull or West Brom's team if I'm being honest.

To be honest, I understanded your clouded judgement as he's a Liverpool player and thats all you really see and take notice of. You seem to find it impossible to comprehend that good players play for other clubs... which makes it even more perplexing on your stance on Gerrard.

???
