LUCAS LEIVA - OFFICIAL THREAD

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Yep saw him play plenty of times - mainly starting back when he was at Celta. He was the crucial player for Madrid and Chelsea because of his reading of the game and positioning

I remember watching an interview with him where he was stating exactly what his strengths were.

So you expect a centre mid to score 3 or 4 a season when you were discussing Lucas - so how many did Makalele score ? How many did Masher score.

Thats the exact reason you're on ignore!!!

Makelele "didn't win many headers , wasnt a hard man ,wasn't particularly pacey,  didn't pin opposition back in their own half , didn't spray the ball around"...

Thats exactly what he done.

f*cking quality post!!!

Not sure what Makelele you remember Stu. But the Makelele who played for Madrid and Chelsea won very few headers and rarely scored. In fact when Madrid let him go Perez was quoted saying -

“We will not miss Makelele. His technique is average, he lacks the speed and skill to take the ball past opponents, and ninety percent of his distribution either goes backwards or sideways. He wasn’t a header of the ball and he rarely passed the ball more than three metres.”

How wrong Perez was and you are, albeit for different reasons.

I remember a lad who effectively played as a sweeper but slightly higher up the pitch and effectively re-invented a role in football. I remember a lad who could pass a ball with both feet and had the strength and skill to recieve a ball under pressure and who could see a pass. A player who knew how to switch play, could play a fifty yard pass and did so while dictating games to a slow pace and a player who knew exactly where to be. Also a player who defended on the half way line when the opposition had the ball picking up clearance after clearance and recycling possession. He could also tackle and win headers and most importantly he read the game.

A player that people have compared to Lucas f*cking Leiva?

Yeah!

You're like one of those people in class room environment who always asks the teacher to repeat what they just said because they think they're asking a different question. When in fact, they're just annoying everyone else. They often think they're really clever and intellectual but they make themselves sound very dumb and repetitive.

You can keep asking me the same question all you like, the reason I'm not answering you is because

number 1. You actually are on ignore, I occassionally take you off to see what corkers you've come out with, you've amused me today, so thanks for that. :D You're wrong by the way, Lucas is nowhere near as good as Makelele. :D

and number 2: I've already gone over this plenty times over the years on many different subjects and you're obviously TOO (see that devaney? :D ) thick TOO (and again) understand the concept of variation and compromise. At no point have I ever said I rate or don't rate someone based on one item of criteria. IN REPLY TO YOUR LAST POST BENNY... I NOTICED YOU REPEATED THE QUESTION... PREDICTABLE... SEE HERE THOUGH FOR EXPLANAION :D

End of conversation.

Obviously no one has said Lucas is as good as Makalele

You in response to what SS said about scoring goals said you expect a centre mid to score 3 or 4 a season

So how many a season did Makalele score - it wasn't 3 or 4 a season yet you have him as world class ( even though he drops below your expectations ).

You can insult me as much as you want - it just shows you avoid the point because it doesn't agree with your theory or opinion. In fact anyone who doesn't agree with your opinion is immediately dismissed as clueless and thick

And that's coming from the same person who said that Gerrard is Liverpools best ever player yet says Owen is better ?! Make you should check your ***** and elbow before calling others clueless.

By my calculation Kenny kan, yourself, lucas and redbeergoggles makes a foursome and not a threesome...and just to add I doubt RedB or Lucas would be at all interested in your strange offer

Myself and Kenny weren't included in the plan, I was merely suggesting organisation. In no way would I want to participate in this. However, Redbeergoggles, I believe would be tempted aslong as we could lure Lucas into it...

I read it as if you wanted to pally up with Kenny Kan for some bizarre love triangle with 4 people ! , making it a sex square....... I merely pointed out that Lucas and RedB probably would have no interest in your fetish......I think you would be best served getting back to football and leave you private nuances private.....

I wouldn't say Lucas  "has become an important player for Liverpool's re-emergence as a football power"

I wouldn't even say that Liverpool have re-emerged as a football power

We are however threatening to become one (again).

As far as Lucas is concerned

Can't see the "top" teams in the Premiership or Europe busting a gut to sign him. Maybe that's why he's still with us ?

Not knocking the fella, he keeps it simple, does his job and I'm happy to see his name on our team sheet

Could we do better,  :nod yes.
