what doesnt help is that he is playing in a position that demands athleticism and mobility, carragher played a year or two longer but he played in a position where you do a fraction of the running you do in the central midfield.
He's 33.
You're talking out of your backside. Central midfield is an area you do not need mobility. Paul Scholes couldn't run for Toffee yet is one of the best midfielders to ever play in this league.
Gerrard is absoloutely miles past his stunning best. Of that, there is absoloutely no question what so ever. The fact is, if he was half the player of before, which I can assure you, he is alot more than that (watch the United game, Villa game etc) then he's still a f*cking good player.
He has a shocking lack of quality around him in Lucas and Henderson. You are right in the sense that he isn't good enough to carry players of that ilk anymore. But Gerrard would still get into EVERY SIDE in this country with a blindfold on.
He is not the problem what so ever, its the lack of quality around him. The sooner people get there heads out there ***** and stop making scape goats out of our second best player just because he's no longer the world beater he used to be, the sooner we can all start talking about the real issues like Henderson, Aspas, Moses, the defence and the lack of ideas and goals in the team.
