havent they got pacey widemen though like that dyer? that lad they got from valencia is a tricky customer too.
wisdom was taken the cleaners in the goodison derby by kevin mirallas who just basically kicked the ball up the line and ran after it (and dyer looks even quicker than miralles to me).
i`m not saying someone in his 30`s like toure has any more chance of coping with dyers raw pace in a outright sprint contest but he may have the experience and know how to block off dyer`s momentum by running across his path or even to give a `well timed` foul away etc
i know it wasnt our first team by any means last season when they knocked us out of the league cup at anfield but when they broke they seemed to constantly have 4 on 3 and 3 on 2 situations because our midfield and defenders couldnt get back in time (because they were so quick up front), our CM`s are going to have get their @rses into gear for this one and make sure they dont leave us outnumbered at the back.

As a CB yes and also as a RB - slightly different.

Skrtel is not a right back , never has been and never will be - will get torn apart by any wide man and has done. Thankfully BR will never play him at RB

If BR doesn't trust Wisdom there then Enrique may swap sides and Sakho go left or Kelly might be given a chance there

I think the lad should be given another opportunity to impress ,I mean after his debut under Dalglish at Man City everyone was lauding how cool the kid

ever seen at RB. Lawler doesn't exactly throw eulogies around like confetti.

Flanagan is no where near good enough, if he wasnt Scouse no one would give a damn about him

If Kelly is fit id bring him in for Johnson instead of Wisdom, Id also bring in Moses for Aspas, other than that id go with the same team that beat Man Utd

carry Carragher far enough.

Rumours that Sturridge and Toure were not able to take part in a specially planned training session today so unlikely to make Monday. With Kelly’s fitness still under the microscope I doubt he will start so Wisdom is most likely to come in. I can see Henderson being deployed on the right again to provide protection for Wisdom.

Carra wasnt good because he was Scouse though was he? its great because it gave him an extra connection to the fans but he still had the ability to get in the team and he deserved his place, Flanagan dosnt have that ability, im sure he could make a career in the lower leagues but i cant see him being a premiership regular

Carra went far because of his talent and desire as opposed to where he was born.

Flanagan did ok on his debut but since then he has disappointed - even for the reserves he hasn't stood out.

We do need a scouse heart in the team but first and foremost the player has to be good enough

cant see many goals in that side, hope those rumours are untrue, without sturridge or suarez we deffo look a bit light up front.

Do you really believe Carragher would have been lauded as much by the Kop if he wasn't from Bootle ? In terms of endeavour and application he was second
to none, but in retrospect composure at the back was never his forte .... Good solid defender who ran through walls for the cause,but seriously if we're
talking about class Hyypia and indeed even Henchoz left him standing....Don't get me wrong broadly speaking Carragher was a good defender who read the
game exceptionally well ,and I'm certainly not disputing his iconic standing with the fans,but he was bereft of some important components ,notably his overall
ability on the ball.   
 

Flanagan has more ability than most at RB ,and its certainly not just because he's Scouse , definitely at no time has he ever looked as hapless at RB as
Wisdom did against Notts County ,so Its no surprise that after a brief stint in the U21's after a very lengthy lay off through injury, his performance led
Rodgers to place him back in the first team squad.

Flanagan's time will come ,but its like I stated earlier its all about first impressions for me ,rather than loosely based judgements.

Wisdom didnt play at RB against Notts County - he was at CB with Johnson at RB ( cant ever remember Wisdom having a mare at RB )and yes Flanagan did play as bad at right back previously - I think Blackburn stands out when his awful back pass to Doni was shockingly short and Doni ended up getting sent off

Cheyrou had a good first impression , as did Voronin , plus Jovanovic ! It's more than first impressions - it's about continuing to impress. Flanagan hasn't - his attributes don't stand out - he isn't great going forward and he isn't great defending , he isn't great on the ball and he isn't great in the tackle , he isn't particularly pacy , doesn't really read the game that well. He will do ok in the lower leagues. But not at the top end of the prem.

Benny ,when Cissokho was injured Johnson went to LB and Wisdom was utilised at RB .......You did watch the game I take it ? 

Yes and I'm struggling to remember the errors from him that game ? I remember the first came from the CB'a playing the striker onside.

But Wisdom continued to impress all last season - even if he did make any errors against Notts County - he still is a better bet than Flanagan - can you remember the Blackburn game.

Thankfully I expect BR to not go with Flanagan. He just isn't good enough.

And yes the Kop warmed to Carra more because he was a scouse lad but he earned his place in the team because of his performances on the pitch - for Rafa he was one of the best CB's in the prem. Outstanding CB
