we shouldnt be letting him go to the african nations cup if he`s struggling with his fitness to the extent he cant play for us.

I know it's early but Assaidi looks like El Zahr MK II. Cheap, sounds promising, does a few cameos and subs, never comes to anything more and is let go a few years later without much bravado.
Yes, like I said it is early....

to hell with that, he could have used that 3 along with the 5 that sahin cost and actually bought a player that he could use rather than moan about having a thin squad.

that african nations cup is a joke the way its on every year. it would put me off signing african players purely because of it, what good are they to a club if they do a houdini every jan and half of feb if they get to the final.
its another joke if the club is willing to let him go play in that when he isnt fit for us and then he can go and have an operation after it :glare:
if it is the case then there is a serious bunch of numpties running the place and they may as well give the chap a bonus for the craic :nod

Sky Sports News just tweeted that Assaidi is having a medical at Stoke today.

Confirmed on the official now that he has gone on a seasons loan there.

Tell you what if nobody else comes in Sterling and Ibe are going to have to play a lot of football you would think.

Why are we letting another player leave without a replacement? the only player were being seriously linked too is Victor Moses! who i don't think is much better than Assadi. Feel sorry for the guy he has barley got a kick since he arrived despite playing pretty well every time he got a chance, baffling

Agree on this one.
Very hard to understand given the fact that we havent replaced Downing yet.
Seems like we could be leaving the squad at the start of the season really bare and relying on kids for the second season in a row.
There's not long now to bring anyone else in.

We have Sturridge, Suarez, Coutinho, Aspas, Borini, Sterling and Ibe for the front 3 positions.
Cissokho might also be an option on the left.

We might only have 40 games this season.

And we might still bring someone in this week.

just because the club are not lighting up neon signs with the names of potential targets doesn't mean they aren't addressing the issue.

He wasn't going to get any game time here anyway. But we shouldn't be reducing the squad when we already have a lack of players.

I dont think letting Assaidi go is a concern. How many starts did he make last season?

Basically the squad since January played well. In this window we've essentially replaced Downing with Aspas, Shelvey with Alberto, and Assaidi with Ibe.

So in terms of numbers the forward players remain the same as the second half of the season.

And we're still looking at bringing in a left sided forward.

tbh he was never good enough to sign for a club like liverpool. i will agree that he has been given very limited chances but thats down to the man that bought him and he obviously has his reasons. the last time i seen him play was when he came on i think in the west ham game and he was awful, couldnt control a ball or pass it either and imo you get what you pay for.
what is worse is the amount of players we let leave on loan and never even get near recouping what we paid for them. this has to affect what we are able to spend on replacements.

All those gone on loan, it has to be a finance decision by the owners: if the player isn't going to play - and we can't rotate the team in European competition - then if I were in charge I would be looking for someone to subsidise the payroll.
It could work in our favour with players getting first team footie, then again they might just want to stay where they are. I'd be more concerned abou Suso of all on loan right now...
