5 year plan?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby jacdaniel » Thu Aug 22, 2013 1:14 pm

I've started this topic because I've seen many people mention the whole "5 year plan" and I am quite confused by it all to be honest.
My concerns would be:

1)  What is the aim of this plan?  Finishing and consolidation of top 4 or competing for the league and CL.  (or all of them)

2)  Were are we currently in relation to the plan?  If its since FSG have taken over we are in year 3.  If its since Rodgers took over its year 2.  Or is it since the transfer committee was set up etc which would make it year 1?

Or

Does anyone think FSG might be setting us up nicely and looking to sell?  (There is plenty of evidence to suggest it could be the case)

Don't mean to start the kind of thread were people will just moan about the owners or anything like that.
Just wondering what people's general thoughts are on were we're going short, mid and long term.

hopefully their 5 year plan started when they got us and will end in 2 years when they sell us on. they wont fund a stadium on their own and they wont invest the kind of money needed to deliver a title. they are not happy either that the ffp rules arent what they hoped.
they bought this club for a snip and will easily double what they paid after 5 years if they sell so i hope thats what they do.

Yeah, how terrible of them to buy us at a bargain bin price when there were other suitors as well.
That basically gives them an eternal get out of jail free card for the rest of their time and no matter what happens at the club we should be happy as long as we exist...  :no

For the actual question at the top. I am not sure there is an exact 5 year plan.
I just believe for the forseeable future they will run the club as if FFP are in place and hope Rodgers or any other manager overachieves.
I don't think they are activly looking to sell but as americans they will listen to any offers that willl make them a quick buck.

Owners firmly believe that FFP will be fully enforced - obviously they can't see all the other clubs spending big sums of money because they prob have their head firmly in the sand.

They don't know the sport - they made that claim themselves , they don't seem to understand what is needed to be a success.

They are admirable in their thoughts about not over paying for players but its fruitless because our rivals don't mind paying over the odds.

I'm not sure exactly what their plan but I do hope it involved selling us

There were more suitors mate, 5 or 6 of them And your right this notion that they saved us is pure sht. Seen their chance to con the last lot and get one of the biggest clubs in the world for penuts more like. There biggest signings came of the Torres, Mereles money. They then sack kenny and surprise surprise bring in someone younger on half the wages, someone so glad to be here he wont rock the boat when he`s told who he can have and who has to leave. Is it any wonder they didnt bring in a top manager now we know how they work.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,
Of stupid fools who stand in line......  Like..
