I'm a red my mates a County fan. I'll be there  :grinning:
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Ill ask again politely - please stick to the thread subject and leave everything else to the mods. Your posts add nothing to the subject.

I'm not going to ignore this shight. This fkg clown creates a thread and then successfully turns it into a war zone by bringing up Ayre's and the owners understandable attitude towards domestic cup competitions. They never once dismissed the domestic cups. They pointed out that they were not the key priority of Liverpool FC. Yes it's great to go to Wembley but it not going to fund or allow you to buy the best players which said clown is constantly harping on about in almost every other thread. Of course we need CL football and only a fool would argue with that. Kenny got sacked because he had an awful season in the league but you seem to have very conveniently forgotten that. He also together with Comolli pisse.d a shedload of money down the river. His media performances also left a lot to be desired at times. Legend yes but not the answer to modern day football which we found out to our cost.

I honestly pity your nephew. Call yourself a supporter. You haven't got a fkg clue. You are nothing more than a contradictory WUM.

You said everything wasn't black and white about Kenny being sacked - so which parts have I missed . Here is part of the statement from Ayre

Ayre admitted that Dalglish would have been dismissed even if he had delivered Liverpool the FA Cup, because the club cannot afford the continued loss of Champions League revenue which is allowing other clubs to power ahead of them financially. In a clear break with the club's past, Ayre said cup success was no longer enough to sustain the club in the modern era.

"The Carling Cup and the FA Cup don't generate the revenue and the success that is needed to keep investing," Ayre said. "If you want to be successful, you have got to keep investing. People don't want to hear that football is a business. They don't. They want to see us put lots and lots of money into the football team and win lots of trophies and games. But you have got to have both. You have got to have continued progress in the league. If you don't do well in the league and you don't get into the Champions League, you are writing cheques from your own pocket, aren't you? That is not a sustainable way, going forward."

You said -

Dangerous ground - look what happened to the last manager who did that. The owners showed their feelings of domestic trophies

The point being that Kenny did not prioritise the cups over CL qualification. He happened to pursue everything. The clubs statement was that the cups alone would not have saved him, not that he got sacked because he pursued them.

How hard is that to understand. In fact you understand that fully, I'm sure you aren't that stupid.

Rodgers will pursue CL qualification as intensely as Dalglish did. He may optionally pursue the cups, as Dalglish did, with the same intensity.

I think the fact Kenny and Comolli had just spent about 120 million quid and then failed to get 4th was more of the reason why they went.  Also FSG where quite new to "soccer" and probably thought that spending that much money would guarantee them 4th.

Liverpool is a different club now.  The owners have a better concept of what it is going to take and have the man they chose (BR) running the club, rather than Kenny who was chosen by the fans.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

How they react this season to results ( if they don't go well ) will point to the future under their management

They keep highlighting the importance of CL but don't seem to provide the funds to purchase the players needed to get the club to the CL. If we again don't get CL this season I wonder what there reaction will be - and because of that importance of CL - the domestic clubs will be forgotten about.
