I disagree. In a game like Everton, we need a player like Suarez who can work in extremely tight spaces and create room out of nothing. Andy is not the lad for us.

I'm 80% in agreement with you as I have never been a massive fan of Andy. I would just hate to sell him at a very low price if there is the slightest chance that he could do a job for us. I know I'm probably dreaming but maybe a year back at Liverpool to test theory wouldn't be such a bad thing. Don't get me wrong if we can sell him for £15m and replace him with somebody like Coutinho then I wouldn't hesitate.

I thought Jagielka and Distin had a relatively comfortable time against Sturridge and Coutinho ,two players that can do exactly what you describe above.
On the other hand , if Carroll had been available from the bench for the last ten minutes ,he would have more than troubled the Bitterz back line.

I still believe he can become a more than useful impact sub ,if he is indeed willing to do so.

We can't afford the luxury of him as an impact sub - he gets paid (not earns !!) way too much....

£35mil impact sub !? An impact sub who actually struggles to make an impact

Might as well shove a cb up front if we want to just lump it forward during the last 5 mins

And against the BS poor finishing from Sturridge denied us as well as some last minutes tackles

Coutinho put Sturridge through on goal a few times

If he comes back he wont be in the starting line up ,even if he has a blistering pre season ,so if he is retained he will be forced to take a place
on the bench ....That's just common sense ,no team is going to fork out the 17 million we want ,so its looking highly likely that unless he goes
straight out on loan again, he will be utilised as an impact sub mate .

We will sell him for around £10-12 mil

He won't sit around as an "impact" sub

I wasn't suggesting we *keep* him as an impact sub. Best to cut our losses on him.....I'd rather a hungry, talented, two-footed and multi-dimensional player than one who knows only one way to play....

Andy Carroll is our main priority this summer, says West Ham manager Sam Allardyce
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed his club is in talks with Liverpool over signing Andy Carroll on a permanent deal over the summer. Andy Carroll is our main priority this summer, says West Ham manager Sam Allardyce
9:52AM BST 20 May 2013

The 24-year-old played the final match of his season-long loan in yesterday's 4-2 win over relegated Reading at Upton Park, where captain Kevin Nolan scored a hat-trick.

Carroll was rewarded for his seven goals this season with a call up to the England squad for upcoming friendlies against Ireland and Brazil, and Allardyce insists keeping him at Upton Park must be the club's "main priority" over the summer.

Liverpool look set to hold out for a £17million fee for their 6ft 3in frontman, and Newcastle and Monaco are also monitoring the situation.

Allardyce said: "If we can start with Andy Carroll that would be a great achievement for us as he can only get better and better.

"Then we build around that in terms of how we want to improve next year, with better quality. It is our target to make it a permanent situation.

"Hopefully we can get somewhere in the near future to do that. It's our main priority. There are negotiations between the club and Liverpool.

"We have to pursue it to the very end one way or another and we will find out as quick as we can if it is a yes or a no."

I think that selling Carroll for 15-17 mil is realistic, despite the opinion of most of the posters on this forum.

BBC reporting that West Ham and Liverpool have agreed a 15 million deal...it's now down to Carroll to decide if he wants the move or not...

Good deal - for 15 mil. Hope Andy agrees, and we part ways.

Good work if he we do get £15m considering how badly the deal turned out for the club.

If you factor in the £5m we saved in wages we got done for £15m for what, less than 20 games!  :Oo:

Live and learn but least we got over half back.

It'll total at 16 million, as they have already given us 1 million as part of the loan.  Not great when you factor in his 35 million price tag, but better than many of us expected.

Yes it sucks that he'll be going for less than half of what Celsea paid for him.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.
