No one has suggested that spend money that you will guarantee a title - the point is to win the title though you will need to be backed by a lot of money as witnessed by the last decade or so.

City spent money to go from 15th in the league to win it.

To win the title you need the best players - to get the best players you need to offer the biggest wages and the biggest transfer fees. To afford those transfer fees you need to be financially backed by rich owners.

Unless you can show me another team winning the prem without the rich owner backing.

Like I said Arsenal wasnt backed by a wealthy owner

In 96/97 they were spending £20mil a season - backed by rich owners 00/99 they spent another £20plus mill then £35mil plus the season after that

Arsenal have spent money and big money relative to that time

Still doesn't take away the fact that they would have won jack all if they didn't pay huge amounts of money.
That is what gets you to win in todays game.

Try again and pay huge amounts and in the end you win.

in 2003-2004 when they won the league this was the outgoing for each of the old top 4

Man United spent 56.19 M
Chelsea 121.15 M
Liverpool 8M
Arsenal 15.250M

How much had the spent in the years building up to that year - it's not just about taking snapshots of one year. They had spent over £100mil in the 4/5 years to build up that team - and go and check out how rich their owners are. And they spent £20.5mil that season

Arsenal spent a lot of money - it wasn't as much as Chelsea etc but for 5 years they were buying a lot of players on big wages. When they stopped they stopped winning.

How many titles have they won since 04 - none - that's nearly a decade now.

So you can't count Arsenal when it's clear they spent to buy players to win them the league a few times over a 5 year period. How about Blackburn the other team to win the prem - nope they were backed by Walker and his money.

So no one has won the league with spending money for decades .

I don't think anybody is arguing with that blatantly obvious fact. Any successful business needs funding to develop and succeed. Football is no different. You sound as if it really doesn't matter where the money comes from providing there is plenty of it. Smacks of desperation. Beat United at all costs whatever it takes and give the horrible fkrs zero credit for anything is the somewhat bitter way that you come across.

What is wrong with Oil money from the Middle East then ? Is that illegal tainted money that shouldn't be touched ?

I want to see a quality Liverpool team winning trophies and titles - if that's funded by Oil money from the Middle East then it's not really going to bother me as long as they would keep us competitive - it's the only way to win the title now - be backed by billionaires

The wealth of these oil sheiks is down to greed of the most disgusting nature. Just take a look at the distribution of wealth in the majority of oil rich middle eastern countries. They don't give a flying fk about the working classes and you would be happy to jump into bed with them. If that is the only way to win the Premier League your welcome to it !!

There is no place for morales in football - they vanished a long time ago - you are in the sport to win not to just compete.

What Mansoor is doing for the under privilaged kids of Manchester is the equivalent of a tobacco baron contributing £5 a month to a lung cancer charity! And your suggesting that I'm naive? Of course they are going to make the right noises. My concern is that these individuals are not just selfish and greedy but that they are disgustingly greedy and there is a vast difference.Your happy to sell out to virtually anybody that can provide massive funding - I'm not. Where is the satisfaction in simply buying results because that is what the likes of Chelsea and Man City have done. If your impressed by what Abramovich does at Chelsea then we are on a completely different page. Just look at how much money we have successfully relieved him of for Fernando Torres,Raul Meireles and Yossi Benayoun who have all turned out to be chronic failures. In return we have relieved them of Danny Sturridge who so far looks quite good !! Money is important but who do you think got the most satisfaction out of those four transfer deals?

I'm happy to win - I'm guess your satisfied with being midtable but doing it "the right way". Well I want better for the club and if someone bought us and then we bought loads of top players and then we won the CL and Title for a number of years then I would be delighted and celebrating constantly at us winning titles - I guess you would be in mourning because we did what was needed to win.

Your idea of better for the club is vastly different from mine. I'm satisfied that you have at least conceded that your way is the wrong way !! Spending big money doesn't guarantee success. Torres and Carroll have certainly proved that. I actually think we don't need to spend a ridiculous amount of money to be top four or even title contenders. Now is certainly not the time to be prostituting ourselves to the highest bidder whoever they are.

And i think you are ignoring the facts of the past 10-15-20 years where its proven exactly what you need to win the title. There is no "wrong" way or "right" way - its whatever way is needed to win the title. Being able to continuely find big purchases either over a sustanined period with a stong team already there or over a short period with a big spend wins titles - no other way has won a title in recent history. You can think ridiculous amounts of money isnt needed - facts dont back that up.
